  1. Thanks. I thought I saw it somewhere... but forgot to search... Old age and sleep deprivation....

  3. I am so confused by what Zev Feldman is doing. I'm sure there are good reasons but it's confusing me. The upcoming RSD releases we've talked about in other threads (2 2cd sets Cannonball, Mal Waldron-Steve Lacy, and the Yuseef Lateef have all been posted to the Elemental Records Bandcamp site. (link below). It's European which significantly increases the cost of shipping the physical CDs. https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/mal-waldron-steve-lacy-the-mighty-warriors-live-in-antwerp?from=fanpub_fnb https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/yusef-lateef-quartet-the-1972-avignon-concert https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cannonball-adderley-poppin-in-paris-live-at-lolympia-1972 https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cannonball-adderley-burnin-in-bordeaux-live-in-france-1969 The Jazz Detective label which has many of the same releases but domestic versions/prices doesn't list any of them. https://jazz-detective.bandcamp.com/ The domestic versions of his prior sets are cheaper in part because of the shipping. Does anyone understand why he's got these two sites? Also one pet peeve of mine... is that at least one of the Cannonball and several of his prior Jamal sets could have fit on one physical CD. Isn't it cheaper to produce and sell one CD vs two CD sets? I mean I'm very happy he's getting this stuff out with regularity but I'm very confused about the different labels, prices, and CD strategies. Can anyone clue me in?
  4. Interesting.... Need more info though.
  5. Let me know if you find a Bandcamp link. I haven't been able to. The Tatum and Sonny are up for preorder, which I did.
  6. This one got my attention after I looked at it more... https://lydialiebman.com/index.php/2024/02/15/new-release-cannonball-adderley-burnin-in-bordeaux-live-in-france-1969-poppin-in-paris-live-at-lolympia-1972-record-store-day-exclusives-out-april-20-cd-digita/ This Record Store Day, Elemental Music will launch a pair of previously unreleased recordings by alto saxophone giant Cannonball Adderley, recorded Live in France. Burnin’ in Bordeaux (1969) and Poppin’ in Paris (1972), both special edition, double 180-gram LP sets will release exclusively for RSD on April 20, 2024. On April 26, the recordings will be available as deluxe, double CD sets, and digitally.
  7. Thanks for the list. I'm hoping NONE of these are vinyl-only releases. I'm completely in on Sonny, Yusuf, and probably the Mal Waldron. The Nat Cole is an absolute.. Here's a little more info I found on that one. https://desertlocalnews.com/news/index/view/nat-king-cole-live-at-the-blue-note-chicago-set-for-record-store-day-first-never-before-heard-live-collection-out-from-iconic-artists-group
  8. I can't seem to find any link on Bandcamp or anywhere yet.
  9. Zev is killing me with these releases... Why is he putting these out while I'm waiting on my tax refund....??? Uggh... 😕
  10. Hmmm.... I have to think about this one... Maybe.. probably....
  11. Love it... Zev is getting some cash from me with these upcoming Sonny, Art and now Yusef releases.
  12. Clearly I’m in the minority…but that’s why we listen… We can’t all like the same thing and we’d be in trouble if we did.
  13. WTF is it with these vinyl-only releases of stuff that's never been out before?... It's bugging me for those of us who don't want to go back to 1972....
  14. I saw Mary Halvorson and Amaryllis quintet last night in Cambridge MA. I was interested as to why she gets so much praise. I had two of her records and was primarily curious. The place was packed, surprisingly with 90% of the people over 50. I expected her audience would be the much younger Berklee College of Music crowd, especially since the tickets weren't that expensive. After a 90-minute set, I wasn't particularly impressed. It was fine. As my college daughter often says - it was meh... Excellent technical proficiency. One tune I liked a lot - sounded like Miles at the Cellar Door. But overall I wasn't moved. I didn't feel anything. Based on her records, it was largely what I expected.
  15. Did you see her live? I've only caught Youtube glimpses. I did grab her first release on that label from Itunes a few days and was very impressed.
  16. Thanks for the tip. There are a few titles I'm interested in that I might have to grab then. https://daynastephens.bandcamp.com/album/closer-than-we-think https://jihyeleeorchestra.bandcamp.com/album/daring-mind https://oneforall.bandcamp.com/album/big-george
  17. Are you going? I'd love to get a review if you are.
  18. I went to see these guys years ago (I mean in the way back machine) and I liked them a lot. I had never heard of them before. https://newwestguitar.com/music
  19. I listened to one track on Bandcamp. I generally have not been able to get into her work. This one sounded a little different so I preordered. We'll see. I'm not a convert yet.
  20. She was everywhere in the 90s. The only info I can track down about her is her website. From what I can gather she opened up a jazz club and maybe a record label. I tried looking at her Twitter account. The only thing there is an odd, cryptic like about Robert Kennedy's presidential campaign. I haven't seen her perform live in a long time. Does anybody have any other info?
  21. Of the many OP records, I've often thought this was the best....
  22. I just want my live, unreleased Betty Carter set. Let me have that and I will be quiet....
