  1. Past hour
  2. March 4 Ricky Ford - 1954
  3. I never quite understood why Rocket 88 is considered early rock and roll. To my ears it sounds fairly squarely R&B. I guess the lyrics are about driving around getting teenage kicks.
  4. I saw Palmer last year at Ronnie's and he was really good. Off to the Vortex this evening in Dalston to watch Florian Albenz featuring Greg Osby.
  5. Today
  6. Jason Palmer “Rhyme and Reason” Giant Step Arts 2 cd set, cd 1 with Mark Turner, Matt Brewer and Kendrick Scott
  7. Ts find in unplayed mint condition. These are the Teldec reference recordings ! excellent !
  8. I'm thinking about seeing Nick Goumas and Jason Palmer at Arthur's House of Jazz in Methuen Thursday night, but I just saw them at The Press Room a few months ago. Plus, no one seems able to go to this one, so I'd have to go solo.
  9. Beethoven, Ts find, found another better copy
  10. Jimmy Glass - Valencia (España) Winter Festival Rale Milic Trio Rale Milic: Guitar Ugonna Okegwo: bass E.J. Strickland: Drums Featuring: Albert sanz: Piano
  11. Miles Davis “Live/Evil” Sony SRCS 9739-40 2 cd set, disc 2 One of the early recording in my collecting history, bought when first released as a 2 LP set more than 50 years ago, and has been a part of my listening world since. Love this music and it sounds so good on the system this morning!
  12. Starting off with Billy Ver Planck Orchestra “Jazz for Playgirls” Savoy/Denon cd.
  13. Flaga = Craig Taborn, Christian McBride and Tyshawn Sorey
  14. March 4 Jan Garbarek - 1947
  15. Lots of "sub-combinations" for sure! Some of the albums I've listened to are Barbieri/Jensen. You're probably right about the HoF. There are so many overlooked artists anyway, it doesn't really matter. I forgot about "Steppin' Out" - VERY 'Garage'!
  16. IIRC based on a play by A.W. Pinero which I read in grad school.
  17. Jansen (Sylvian's brother) has some worthwhile material as well. And the various sub-combinations of all 4 of them.
  18. I've got a download of that record and love it - still whiffed on the guess.
  19. Congrats! Will give it a listen soon.
  20. Sorry, we've got family in from out of town. Yeah, nice offering, like the added percussion. And totally agree with you about singers. Singing and dancing, no matter how abstracted, pretty much is what I want to hear in any music. It's what makes things human "Songs"...not so much for me these days, but really getting inside a song, any song, is not for the faint of heart. Finding truth never is . Keep putting it out there. Glad you're doing it;
