  1. That'll be tomorrow night.
  2. Alfredson, Big Al and Soul Stream need to "get right"! No mention of the greatest organ record of all time - "Face to Face". I once wrote "this record is the reason God allowed Mr Hammond to desecrate the organ".
  3. Very sad. I will think of Ken each time I play the Teddy Wilson Mosaic he sent me.
  4. Yes. Mrs. Z is the former Mrs. M. This should bring the Debut/Workshop stuff into focus.
  5. Wrong Turk Clem. T'was brother Ahmet.
  6. I ain't gonna tell.
  7. Clem is one of 14 hipsters knowing this one.
  8. PLEASE, someone go to the sight and pretend you are a "copyright holder" and tell me you don't give them the right to let others issue your music on cd.
  9. Re: Short, Mercer, etc. During the holiday break I had the chance to read Larry's book in my mother-in-law's bathroom - AND the piece titled "Cabaret Music" speaks of an alternate universe. Hoity toity in the toilet.
  10. Any fans here of Brother Matthew? If not, how about Boyce Brown? Since the style is preBird, some of you are "forgiven". One of my favorites is Leak Onitz.
  11. When I decide who I am I will post more. In the mean time I have a few attacks to prepare. B-)
  12. The traffic light was in place when we moved here in 1983. Some interesting aerial shots of Whitehall and sister city Montague (across the river) at this SITE.
  13. Here is a shot of our booming urban center.
  14. Sorry I'm late. Buy, buy, buy!
  15. I just took a quick look at the discography and spotted a couple of things. Schildkraut plays tenor on much (if not all) of his date. The Joe Puma was issued on Reservoir vinyl. The Reservoir Ralph Moore date was recorded as an Uptown as well. "Follow Me", on the Jack Sheldon record, is a Cecil Payne composition. On the same date, the correct title of the Jerry Dodgion tune is "No Trump".
  16. Paul, I considered Dan a friend (personal and musical) during his tenure in Chicago and still consider him a (remote) friend. He was always supportive of my work. My complaint "back in the day" was what I viewed as jazz "boosterism" in the reviews - all of those Buddy Rich lps were NOT 5 star dates. He countered with an attitude about the "jazz biz" being in the doldrums and he was just trying to help. I'm sure the ad department trying to sell instrument layouts dictated the “pop” coverage. I listened to Terry Gross's interview last week and after the interview was over she ended the program by saying something about Dan being convinced (of something) by the following track by the AEC and played a piece from my set. When I checked out the stream from NPR, it ended with the interview proper and omitted the "outro" and bump. DANG. Dan's predecessor, Don DeMichael took crap for making DB an "anti-Coltrane" mag but Don friggin' worshiped Trane. Editors always pay a price for attempting to be "balanced".
  17. George and Von live at 6917 S Calumet Ave. Chicago, IL 60637-4627. They are in the friggin' phone book. It ain't that hard.
  18. This whole "but we are serious fans" crap makes me sick. Die hards, yeah, that's the ticket.
  19. AND you have gained pleasure from the music (and kudos for providing it to others). All I'm asking is a bit of reward for the source. Does that earn FUCK YOU?
  20. This has EVERYTHING TO DO ABOUT EVERYTHING.
  21. Jim, I don't have the time or energy to deal with all the implications of your message, but don't think you really .......... never mind. I make a conscious decision where to buy cds. I rarely buy used. I buy from the artist or label when possible. I buy from stores with the proper inventory, etc. Why should George Freeman lose income 'cause the label he recorded for didn't issue it on cd (yet)? Maybe the above attitude is why I'm broke - but I hope to die with a look of satisfaction on my face.
  22. Hey Nessa, does GEORGE own the recording? Is he selling it? If not, FUCK OFF!!! I'll be polite. George does not own the master but does have an interest in the commercial exploitation of same. Artist royalty and composer royalites are due him. Do you know what these amounts are?
  23. Here is the POINT! Anyone wanting/needing this date has at least 100 other (in print) dates they want/need. Until there is nothing else they "want", either "fuck you" or pay George.
