  1. Well... I'm not sure it really explains why the Bitches Brew panel occurred at SXSW, but hopefully it describes the festival itself a little!
  2. You may not be familiar with the South by Southwest Music & Film Festival (website), but it's a very large week long event that attracts almost 2,000 bands, industry people, and tons of fans. Primarily rock and roll, but the list of bands that played is pretty long. I'm not sure there's anything quite like it anywhere else, to be honest. BFrank has attended for the past couple of years, and I've always enjoyed his updates about the music he's seen.
  3. Good matchup of two pretty evenly talented teams if you ask me. I think A&M should have prevailed, having the size and power game, but Purdue seemed to dictate the flow of the game once they had that big comeback in the 2nd half. A couple of years ago I never would have dreamed the Aggies would have turned into a decent basketball team, so this is all gravy for me! oh yeah, and STFU Conn!!
  4. UNI up by 2 with 0 seconds left!! Kansas was a "lock" to win the whole thing according to most pundits. This makes things interesting...
  5. All packages have shipped and hopefully arrived by now (maybe except for the international ones). A few discs are available again - the Hawes, Ambrosettis, Adderley/Jackson K2, MJQ, Miles Blackhawk set, and the Donaldson Scorpion disc.
  6. Some previous comments from Chuck that shed a little light, here
  7. Wild ending to the Miss State/UNC game today in the NIT! Couple of questionable ref calls (including a tripping foul that wasn't - the guy tripped over one of his own teammate's feet), but UNC made a great drive to the basket with 2 seconds left to win it.
  8. Not looking real good for FSU, Free... 51-38 Gonzaga with 9 min left. They're showing the Okie State/Ga Tech game here, knotted up at 45-45 with 10 minutes left. Good matchup. A&M looked pretty good against Utah State earlier this afternoon, hopefully they continue their momentum against Purdue, and then get to the next round in Houston, where they should have some decent fan support. 9. Some great games today, I agree! Sorry about your Horns, Free. Barnes wasn't able to coach a very talented team this season, for whatever reason.
  10. He was on a recent live album with Terje Rypdal, called Life in Leipzig I believe. Very nice album. They also did a couple of ECM albums in the 90's together, The Sea and The Sea II.
  11. Duke is perhaps the weakest of the 4 No. 1 seeds. I was happy when A&M ended up in the South with them. If they're on their game, I think A&M can beat them if they don't start looking past Utah State tomorrow and most likely Purdue after that. They have played Kansas well twice this season already, only to falter in the last few minutes. ...having said that, I've probably just jinxed them and they'll lost to Utah State tomorrow.
  12. Happy Birthday!!
  13. Fill us unknowing types in on the background! I'm not sure it's funny to anyone other than Ron and myself!
  14. Dude - I'm tempted just to send my whole music collection to you. Don't even need the Biermann in exchange! That's how much I luv ya!
  15. Updated and bumping. The Art Tatum box set is available once again as well. Thanks for looking, Erik
  16. Some incredible video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0JyhDBqEfM&feature=player_embedded#
  17. It exists for Rolling Stone magazine (I know, it's not much of a magazine anymore, and hasn't been for a long, long time). I'd guess there are similar products for other magazines as well.
  18. Responded to all PMs, thanks!

  20. Happy Birthday Paul!! All the best for the coming year! I'm glad I've gotten to know you through this board!
  21. ??? Any number of threads on this forum (and elsewhere) seem to indicate quite the contrary. At least to me. They're not spending enough money .... and there aren't enough of them.
  22. 1. Aren't most DJ's paid positions - outside of college radio perhaps? 2. Will you have the proper clearances/authorizations to play the music that is submitted to you?
