  1. I don't know, BClug. What do you think? My guess is that nobody wants him because he has the reputation of not getting along with his teammates. However, you can be sure that the Bombers would have preferred to start him over Ryan Dinwiddie in the Grey Cup! So my thinking is that the first team that has a big injury problem at the QB position (except Hamilton) will sign him if he agrees to a low price. If he holds out for big money, I don't think he will catch on with anybody. Buono has (obliquely) said the Lions would be interested if there's major QB injuries because Printers is familiar with the Lions system.
  2. GA—where (and when) do you think Casey Printers will wind up?
  3. Go for the classic Kammerkonzert / Ramifications / Lux Aeterna / Atmosphères on Wergo. http://www.wergo.de/shop/en_UK/products/show,93472.html It features two of the pieces that Kubrick lifted for 2001. Beyond that, you really can't lose with any of the Teldecs and most of the Wergos.
  4. Agreed. Kenny Dorham is the first name that came to my mind. Also, Freddie Hubbard wasn't quite as under-recognized, but he wrote some stunning compositions during the Blue Note days.
  5. RIP.
  6. I use sugar spiked with a little bit of borax for carpenter ants. Not sure if that'll get fire ants.
  7. Can't believe it took over 30 minutes for a Keith Jarrett comparison.

  10. I was looking to putting in an order to www.stockhausen.org despite all the obstacles to ordering. Gruppen/Carre is top of my list. If those familiar with Stockhausen had to by one other, what would it be?
  11. I'm a big fan of Lift Every Voice. "Hey Hey" is a great opener. I find a lot of people criticize this one and Grass Roots for not meeting their expectations of how such sessions should sound. That's not the point with Andrew Hill.
  12. My True Blue has the correct liner notes.
  13. Happens all the time. I saw Klaus Kugel drop a stick while playing with the Ganelin Trio last weekend. The smart drummers always have another close at hand.
  14. Thanks for posting. Best of luck with your blog.
  15. From Richard Shapiro's Cecil Taylor sessionography http://www.efi.group.shef.ac.uk/mtaylors.html The Village Gate, NYC, September 19, 1965 1. Number One 2. The taping from this original broadcast is some 29 min. long. These are believed to be rehearsals, not concert performances. Note: Some sources give the drummer as Andrew Cyrille. 16. I'm sure the cover art on the various reissues over the years has scared off many of the curious. Too bad, because they are great albums.
  17. I have this on vinyl. Never really cared for it, other than the second version of Nonaah.
  18. Thanks for the birthday wishes. This is a great place.
  19. Any "issues" with any of these? I want to get Stop and Listen and Some Other Stuff, but wanted to make sure the end of "Saturday and Sunday" isn't tacked on anywhere.
  20. Lock and Murray have also collaborated on Thriving on a Riff: Jazz & Blues Influences in African American Literature and Film.
  21. Mixtery was released as a 50th birthday celebration for Braxton back in the mid-1990s. It's a collection of essays, recollections and salutations from various writers and musicians. An excellent read.
  22. Mosaic has been planning to reissue the Thompson-Pettiford ABC stuff on vinyl.
  23. Master of the Art also had an interview with Woody tacked on to the end.
  24. They did an album of Gunther Schuller arrangements featuring Gunther himself conducting. I believe Howard Johnson guested. Haven't heard it in ages. There were several other albums.
