  1. Well, I had never heard of Eddie (obviously my loss) and I'm glad you're going to do the Cd; I will buy it.
  2. I was never a big fan of his singing, if you can call it that..
  3. That makes two of us! An auspicious debut. Thank goodness they offloaded Jacobs.
  4. Boy, you aren't kidding. I can't remember a year like this in many a year.
  5. Good pick up on the Dorham
  6. We all do; it's in the nature of being passionate about things.
  7. The Mets Cards game has to be one of the more interesting ones recently, just for the fact it went 20. Cards in extra innings ran themselves out of a few innings and certain decisions weren too sharp such LaRussa not hitting for the pitcher with the bases loaded or Luttwig running with Pujols at bad; he was called out on a call that could have gone either way. I wouldn't say the pitching was great; the offenses were relatively inept. Memorable game though.
  8. Rained last night (more water in the basement, ugh) and foggy today.
  9. Tadd's Delight from Lovano's 52nd Street Themes.
  10. The MacDonald book, which I think is the one I was thinking about in an earlier post, is impossible to find. One is listed on Amazon for $400.
  11. Second this recommendation and highly recommend this exciting DVD of the nonet that features three Dameron compositions, "On a Misty Night", "If You Could See Me Now" and "Good Bait".
  12. Looks like the wheels have already come off the Mets bus and my guess is that Manuel will soon be thrown under that bus.
  13. Guilty on all counts
  14. Spell check, while great, allows some grammatical errors to go through and is no substitute for effective proofing.
  15. I used to collect cards and had several of the Ripken cards which I sold off when they were hot. I still have one. Today they're not worth that much. Baseball card market has dropped through the floor due to massive oversupply.
  16. I found the sound to be terrible. For that reason, not one of my favorites.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if putting up countless subsidiaries (presumably with complicated ownership relations) makes it easier to escape responsibility for copyright/IP infringements. It all depends if they're thinly capitalized and act as if they're independent companies. Otherwise, the corporate veil can be pierced.
  18. I may have the original CD but I believe this is on the Eldridge Mosaic. Have you checked there? ADHD and OCD is something my son has in spades. When he buys a Cd and puts it on iTunes, it's not a pretty sight as he obsesses over every little detail.
  19. Which college I wonder At any rate, it stands to reason that had he lived, you don't have to be a soothsayer to predict that he would have made many more albums.

  21. That's what I was wondering. Don't know anything about these labels (except FS).
  22. This is sound advice. I love Tadd and I would also go with Peter Friedman's suggestions on the reissue band, the Continuum Cd being extraordinaire. I also love the Lovano Cd too. I was really bummed a few years ago when I missed out on the Tadd biography. I tried for a long time to find but never could
  23. Just received the Spring catalogue and a few things caught my attention: Johnny Hodges Four Classic Albums (Castle Rock, In a Mellow Tone, Perdido and Creamy). Some things from Fresh Sound: Herb Pomeroy and His Orchestra Band in Boston Johnny Hodges and the Ellington Men 1956-1957 Johnny Hodges and His Orchestra Not So Dukish Dizzy Gillespie and His Octet The Greatest Trumpet of Them All Clifford Brown Live at Music City and More from Rare Live Recordings Babs Gonzalez Googie Rene From Romesville to Manhattan from Righteous Records
  24. Thanks for the info Kevin. Not sure I'd sell the Trios Mosaic but I'm not that fond of the Weston Mosaic so I may part with that one at those prices.
  25. M'kay. Peace to you, Brad. And to all, a good night
