  1. I have it. Picked it up after I purchased The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby on vinyl from VMP. One of my favorite records.
  2. That works out at $41 per disc. Tone Poets are $38 so it’s not outlandish. RSD releases are more expensive; the Evans is going to be $65.
  3. Looks interesting. Haven’t heard of this label before but that Kevin Gray is involved is a plus.
  4. Ammons/Stiit or just Sonny too. If just Sonny have you listened to the DJ Lounge?
  5. I finally finished watching it. Yes, it was very good. I’m not sure the 7th season was necessary but perhaps the French public wanted the story brought forth to see what happens to the characters. Many great actors but Thierry Goddard, who is also in Spiral, stands out.

    RSD Releases

I did a comparison of the songs listed on the RSD site vs the Original version and they were the same. For some reason RSD listed the songs for the first two LPs but not the other three. However, a French member at Hoffman found all the songs on a French site, VARIOUS ARTISTS – NUGGETS – 50TH ANNIVERSARY BOX The above, by the way, is the same blurb that appears on the RSD site.

    RSD Releases

I don’t have the original Nuggets but the RSD looks like a straight reissue of the original.
  8. I have both volumes but it’s been a long time since I listened to them. Another good, also on Roulette, is Jaws and Stitt at Birdland.
  9. Reservoir’s release indicated they acquired his “publishing and recorded rights.” Without more information it’s hard to know what exactly they acquired and under what conditions and limitations. Obviously, they have no rights to his catalogue now owned by Concord/Craft, other than any royalties C/C may be obligated to pay him.
  10. Yes, that’s Barry Harris and as you said he was a real keeper of the flame.

    RSD Releases

One site I saw said the Stitt would be available on cd but I didn’t see it on Amazon unlike the Bishop and Scott dates.
  12. An album with a lot of feeling. Just now:
  13. It’s now a permanent rule. Many traditionalists are upset by it but I like the rule. 15, 16 inning games are not fun to watch.
  14. Your hypothetical, though, is a contract law question and Kevin’s post doesn’t have anything to do with radio air play.
  15. What makes you think it shouldn’t be?
  16. I have for sale MD7-223, Woody Herman The Complete Columbia Recordings Of Woody Herman And His Orchestra & Woodchoppers (1945-1947). Everything is mint. Only listened to a couple of the CDs. Discs 4-7 are still sealed. Price is $100 plus $5 shipping. Payment via PayPal. Please pm me if interested.
  17. Thanks. Looking at the Cookers one.

    RSD Releases

Apparently it was issued in 2015 and it’s being reissued again. I suppose it’s being issued in vinyl is what makes it novel.
  19. How is the sound on the Gearbox releases?
  20. Hadn’t heard of this company before but looks like they have some interesting releases, some Billy Harper, Dexter, Monk and Yusuf Lateef, plus other genres. Perhaps this release is a way to gain more recognition. https://www.gearboxrecords.com

    Dodo Marmarosa

This was re-issued in Japan in 2021.
  22. Disc 7. Lester appears with Sonny Stitt on a couple of tracks at a 1957 concert at the Chicago Opera House. I wonder how many times they appeared together on the same stage.
