Based on their relative lack of activity, it's apparent that the Madoff scandal must have hit the Mets ownership hard. What they've done this year is a far cry compared to the winter of 2005 when they developed a good team. The signing of Bey was just a sop to the fans/media to show they were doing something. That contract is heavily backloaded and if finances get desperate I'm sure they can trade him. If all this is true, they should just sell the team to someone who will run it properly.

When I was a kid, listened to a lot of my parents broadway musical albums and tin pan alley stuff. Listened to a lot of rock of course, particularly the Stones and didn't know it at the time but that's when I started to like the Blues. Gravitated to a lot of Blues, particularly in the 80s, which eventually led to Jazz. I started listening to some Duke, more classical trad stuff and then one day I decided to get bolder and picked up the RVG of Moanin. It was like my brain exploded. Had never heard anything like that more and started exploring, broadening my horizons, found the old BN Forum and here we are

Wonder what Rosemary Woods would think?

It really was outrageous, particularly when they got away with that low hit to the knees late in the game. I'm with you -- here's hoping that the Saints get a humiliating shellacking in Miami!! I'm sure they will be crushed.

I came across this article in the NY Times regarding the "Three Facebook Settings Every User Should Check Now." After reading this, I changed my settings. Please see http://www.nytimes.com/external/readwriteweb/2010/01/20/20readwriteweb-the-3-facebook-settings-every-user-should-c-29287.html?em

...to a player on the other team. That's what separates him from the other great QBs. I don't understand the mindset of trying to throw the ball in that situation. Would you see Montana, Manning Brady, etc., etc. doing that? I don't think so. Regarding the Jets, injuries killed them to a certain extent, particularly losing Green so early in the third. What really killed them was that drive at the end of the first half. Drives like that are really a killer and I knew that was probably it. Had it been just 17-9, they've probably got a shot but giving up that TD and giving it up so fast, that was a real killer. Turned out to be a good season though, with good things coming in the future.

Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz Live Boxed Set
Brad replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I must have gotten lucky or something because I only placed my order Thursday night. -
Don't forget Dizzy or Hawk, the list could go on forever.

Ordered mine from Worlds Records. Can't wait to hear it. -
That's a bummer. At least you can listen to other stations through the internet. However, if you want to listen in the car, that option is now foreclosed.

Some weird stuff. The first cut is Bo Diddley's Who Do You Love. Any resemblance between the original and this group's interpretation is purely coincidental

Snap up the second set folks. It's great. Maybe someday somebody will issue all the Keynotes in CD.
-
If there's an issue about them surviving I will purchase some sets from them this year to do what I can.

That does sound a little over the top but I guess you have to consider the circumstances, the history, etc.

It's nice to see that a Three Sounds cd, Bottoms Up, will be coming out.

You can't make this shit up: the Mets were negotiating with Benji Molina. The Mets had offered one year at 5.5 million with an option for a second. Molina wanted a third year. As is their nickel and dime style, the Mets kept dicking around, trying to get him on the cheap. So what does Molina do: he gets pissed off and re-signs with the Giants for one year at $4.5 million. I mean when does this nonsense ever end. The asshole Wilpons have been running this team for almost 30 years and what do they have to show for it: one title and one other WS appearance. Just amazing. In all fairness, the Paysons who owned the team from 1962-1979 or thereabout only had one title as well.

That's a real shame, RIP.

Hm. Can Pat and Mike jokes be far behind...? A rather unfortunate comment, Chuck. You are aware, I hope, of the Irish Potato Famine of 1845-1852. Not cool. Not to burst your PC bubble or anything but as the only one on this Board who could make a genuine claim to being offended by that remark, I found it actually brought a grin, which in itself, is rare for a Nessa post. It would actually be Paddy and Mick jokes to be precise, Pat maybe but Mike??? The Famine was quite a long time ago and happened for a myriad of different reasons and you might be suprised to find that we're kinda over it by now, it's still used occasionally as a(nother) reason for hating the English, but we have have more than enough of them already so it rarely gets an airing. You Yankee Doodles might want to toughen up a bit before you come over here. We don't really do "Political Correctness". I think you are refering to the Phoenix Park, maybe??? Yes, it was Phoenix Park. I had the cabbie drop me off there. Spent some time in the park. What a wonderful park and then walked into town.

I was in Dublin in June of last year and enjoyed it quite a bit. I walked around quite a bit and there's a nice (but touristy) shopping area downtown. The areas downtown around the quay are nice and right before you get in to the city, there's a lovely park (huge), whose name escapes me now. Drink plenty of Guinness!

Those days are long over for me but in a way I wish they weren't. Were the weights in front? I'd think you'd get your top speed quicker.

Don't really understand what you said in the first para. Her having a great voice is beyond the point: who said she didn't. The falsification of history should be a concern. For many it is not (e.g., Zelig). For me it is. For you it may not be.

Colts will crush them. And "Sad" Diego just plain sucks. Norv Turner proves once again that he can't win the big one....a 57 yard FG attempt?!? WTF? Colts may win but they won't be crushed and I tell ya if the Colts play like they did yesterday, the Jets will win, no doubt about it. The Ravens game was very winnable but the Ravens just make mistake after mistake.
