  1. Guy's too mellow for me.
  2. The whole thing is pretty sad. It's been months since Fantasy released anything after having a very active release program. Chuck was prescient.

    Verve LPRs

A couple of faves are the Sweets recent disc and the Billy Mitchell. There's also the Dizzy one, Afro, the Yuseef Lateef (that's phenomenal). Sonny Stitt is pretty good too, the Mulligan, the Evans. Christ, they're so many that are good.
  4. If this is on the extinct list, how far behind can the Parlan be? I think that's even a better Mosaic, rounding into one of my favorite Mosaics.
  5. Now, that's it over, I can cast my vote...Heat in 9
  6. I think you've made more than a couple.....and the moose is still crying!
  7. Have to agree with jazzshrink, underrated no. And a hell of a talent. I just picked up a live set with him and Stan Getz At the Haig and he smokes. Thank goodness, no singing on it though.
  8. I think this got lost in the shuffle but today is Grant Green's birthday. He would have been 74 years old. I was listening to Disc 5 of the Horace Parlan Mosaic and there's some fine Grant on there. So thanks Grant.
  9. This is not a totally helpful answer to your question but see the Paul Desmond Google Discography Page for general discographical information. Regarding the individual cds, I think a lot of them are around still, some in stores, some online.
  10. Horace Parlan, disc 5. Can't understand why this is not on the endangered list. Everybody must have the single issues.
  11. I guess the seller proved if you don't ask, you don't get it. Of course, nobody leapt but you never know sometimes.
  12. Man, I missed this also. Chuck, I just sent you an email but it got filtered (although I did fill out the form from Earth Link).

    Bennie Green

I like My Main Man although it's not a hard driving record but very enjoyable. Others that are good are that Hornful of Soul on Bethlehem and the Time session with Sonny Clark.
  14. I did pick this up and it got some heavy rotation. It's truly great. Better than I expected, actually.

    Shout! Factory

    He's not?
  16. I don't think Lonehill is indie. Isn't that part of Fresh Sounds or Definitive?
  17. Thank you Tony. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sorry I missed out on the Hodges cds. You're in for a special treat with the Master Jazz Piano set. One of my favorite sets.
  18. Well, what can you do. My point was let's not lament about it when we have been suffering from a bad exchange rate for awhile.
  19. The only Bosco I know goes into milk . This set is a must set and if you love Pepper or Byrd or both, don't let this go by. Act Now! Or You'll Be Sorry
  20. No offense but we in the US have been getting hit hard with the exchange rates so I'm not upset to see the Euro take a hit. For those going to Europe, we'll get more bang for the buck, so to speak.
  21. Arizona may have the best but that's just one place. NYC has tons of good places. You just can't go wrong; it's the capital.
  22. Thanks for posting this brownie. Didn't know Telarc had that much clout. Never really paid that much attention to them.
  23. Not sure Burton would do it for me at least not a whole box set's worth. I'd like to have the early 60s stuff but not the later fusion type material. Chu Berry would be something. Is that on the drawing board or just a wish?
  24. Damn, now I'm pissed at myself. Got to get into the city. Thanks for the tip.
  25. Marcus raises a good point but also to see all you guys, find out what's going on, get advise, see what's selling. If I hadn't seen Tony's post, I wouldn't have scored the Miles Gil Evans set from him on ebay. So this is a great organic place.
