  1. I must be the only one that didn't find the bebop Gryce recordings particularly fascinating. A lot of it didn't strike me as bebop and the music just didn't hit. I also didn't find the arrangements particularly fascinating. The other that I picked up, among them Sidney Bechet were outstanding, particularly that one.
  2. I particularly found fascinating the story about how this music was found. I knew nothing about "pickers" until I read the notes.
  3. I like Academy and Tower up by Lincoln Center. I don't like Virgin: the location, the prices, etc.
  4. Sounds like a must. I haven't been that thrilled with some of his offerings lately. Nice but sort of blah.
  5. That's a price that's hard to beat. Wonder how they can afford to do it? Volume, volume!
  6. It is Blue Note
  7. Email sent. Thanks.
  8. Reach Out seems like a strange choice. However, it has not generally been available and the TOCJ sightings aren't all that strong either. It's not my favorite Mobley but I do see the logic in putting it out.
  9. As for the above, I know I've said it before but, the argument you present really only holds water if we assume that a significant percentage of the U.S. jazz buying public actively seeks out Spanish(?!) Blue Note reissues. I'm just not sure that's the case... ← But Brandon, did you catch the thread the other day where people were ordering them from Dusty Groove? I go to two stores that sell quite a few copies of this as well. It is one of the Spanish Blue Notes that is selling very well. After all, it is a TOCJ mastering so it's sounds pretty darn good. If this was "Rolling With Leo", there would be zero competition from this Spanish series. I think they should have gone for "Rolling With Leo". Later, Kevin Kevin ← I have to agree with Kevin. I don't know about the jazz buying public but I'm sure this Boards accounts for a good percentage of that and I'm sure most of us here have heard about the Spanish BNs, which is how I got mine.
  10. You wouldn't say it if there was some real reissues to put out, not retreads.
  11. Yeah, that Lonehill Eddie Davis cd looks inviting. Any views, brownie?
  12. I think Chuck's (and Mike's) post highlight the difference. Until now, all previously issued on cd Fantasy material has been generally available in cd whereas Mosaic specializes in a lot if what is not available.
  13. I can't ever see that happening and after seeing Mike's post, I now see why.
  14. It doesn't always take that much to aggravate a back. It doesn't necessarily have to be heavy and you can get a spasm just sitting. Yes, that happened to me and it wasn't pretty.
  15. Wonderful musician. I'll always treasure the Plectrist
  16. I've had a bad back for 15 years so I feel your pain, so to speak. As others have said, get your self to a doctor, preferably an orthopedist. If you can, get some muscle relaxants because it sounds like you had a spasm and I've had several and it feels like somebody just shot you. A good relaxant is skelaxin. I'd also recommend an anti inflammatory. I'd say Celebrex but you know that story. The makers of Advil claim that it's just as effective as the prescribed anti inflammatories. Be careful when you pick up something. Make your legs do the work, not the back. When you're able and under directions from a therapist go to a gym and do exercises that will help you. You can buy a book that has simple back exercises that you can do at home but wait until you see a doctor. Good luck.
  17. Rudy Van Gelder! Waiting!
  18. Doesn't seem like that long ago that Sunday Morning was a Conn. Guess I don't see the need. There are others more worthy.
  19. If you have a couple of days, you could.
  20. Jim Alfredson.
  21. Album of the year, yes. How often does a buried treasure come along. Hope, they're more out there like this.
  22. Calling Couw.
