  1. As much as I may like him, what he did to Embraceable You yesterday was unforgiveable. I wasn't happy.
  2. I don't have any of this stuff so this is pretty exciting for me.
  3. Just ordered a few of the new vogues. the one with Renaud and Milt Jackson is superior.
  4. Another Dan/Chuck love fest Maybe not the holy grail but fine stuff nonetheless. What would you consider the holy grail? True Blue!
  5. I just hope the artists, the writers or their familes get the royalties.
  6. No problem here. Accessing anything I want.
  7. I sent a PM to Jim about this, since Allen's transfer is en route, but I guess Jim's a bit busy what with the recording session and all ... Actually, there's another possibility for hearing this, though it would take a bit longer: Michael Cuscuna has told me that, if he figures out a way to do a Three Sounds Mosaic, and if there's space and the music is good, and if Gene's widow approves, he'd definitely like to include this as an earliest known recording. (And I ran it by Janie Harris and she's happy to give her consent, and she hasn't even heard it yet!) God, I hope it's so. Trouble is, Michael has been saying for a long time that he's trying to figure out a way to do a Mosaic and my impression from several emails is that it's not a large possibility, that a Select or two or maybe just a single cd is the more likely scenario.

    FREDDIE IS 67!

Just finished listening to True Blue. Oh, what a front line: Tina and Freddie. Happy Birthday Freddie.
  9. I can't see them reissuing a Concord as an OJC. Maybe in a few years but I'm sure they'll keep the labels separate.
  10. It's hard for me to add anything to what's been said. I have about 50 or so and they're just great to have with all the takes, the books, the box, etc. Quality control is impeccable and customer service second to none. If you buy one, it's all over, little kitten. Go ahead and do it. Re the Turrentine or the LD set, I'm not that fanatic about sound as issues as others but I don't see anything wrong with the sound. Seems fine to me. I've actually thinned my collection a little bit. Had the Brooks Lp set but since I had the cds, I decided to dispense with it. There are a few others that I don't listen to too much and that I might dispense with but very few. A good example of something that you can't get elsewhere this the Master Jazz Piano set of solo work. One of the best Mosaics ever.
  11. In the midst of their Billie Holiday festival, WKCR is trying to raise money. They're in a severe credit crunch. So anything you can to help would be much appreciated. They held a drive back in January but have to have another one now so they can continue broadcasting. Here's an earlier discussion.
  12. I think it's probably a hit on both. I don't have either but would love to have the Capitol sometime.
  13. I have a xerox of the Bud Powell if anyone needs it. I thought Mosaic didn't sell books separately unless you had bought the original set. I have a partial Jackie although I have a cdr of Disc 3 and a partial of the Quebec Hardee, one of the best sets ever, plus a book to go with it.
  14. Brings back a lot of memories with my son. It's something special when you get that hit. Way to go Nathan.
  15. The only longbox I have and because it came out no other way was the Dex BN box. I've passed up on these Miles boxes until I can find the old variety.
  16. For those who may be looking the Moon cd was issued under Wardell's name.
  17. I don't take anything. When I developed tinnitis I started taking them to see if it would help. It didn't so I stopped. I was taking the fish oil for awhile to see if it would help lower cholesterol. It didn't so I went back on the lipitor.
  18. I guess the question becomes how we get this out in circulation for the public to hear.
  19. I haven't met anybody but as usual it would be nice to have a big get together.
  20. Looks like Dusty Groove has some of these.
  21. I think I have the Sweets as an American Record Society LP, the one with the pink inner sleeves. Got it on ebay for a nice price, and it is indeed a great album. Just saw this on Alan's web site and am looking forward to Sittin In, Joe Newman and the Al Cohn. Looks like a great April 12.
  22. They're very definitely worth picking up. The difference is that they had alternative takes on their cd and impeccable lengthy detailed liner notes. CC only has master takes and about a half page of intro notes.
  23. So he's banned? No great loss (as many of you might guess).
  24. I bought out all the Nabors Mosaics. Figured I'd do a little hoarding. I'll sell you one but first I have to offer it to Allen Lowe for around $2,000.
