  1. I just noticed that Ayler Records has pulled all but a couple of their albums off of eMusic. I figured this would happen someday, as Ayler now sell their albums as downloads directly... It's a shame, though, as I enjoyed several of their releases via eMusic (William Parker's - ...And William Danced is a damn fine album). In light of me noticing that some labels have disappeared from eMusic recently (Epitaph, Ayler), I have a question for eMusic users: Is there a place on the eMusic site that informs their customers that labels will be leaving at xxx date? I've searched the site but can't find any relevant information about labels leaving (their "Press Release" section leaves A LOT to be desired). I guess it would be similar to Mosaic's "Last Chance" section of their website. Surely eMusic knows when their deals with labels "expire"... it would be nice if they passed that information on to the customer! Any thoughts on where I should be looking for this info? Cheers, Shane
  2. Whatever your conscience tells you is right... Cheers, Shane
  3. You're right on the money, Lon. I lost my "original" downloads in a hard drive crash, and hadn't gone back to the "My Downloads" section to resave all of them to my new hard drive... I guess I figured they would always be there waiting to be downloaded. I'm not making that mistake again! Cheers, Shane
  4. Aw hell... I just double-checked, and I lost at least 15 albums when Epitaph et al. decided to pull the plug... including three Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros albums. This just pisses me off! Shane
  5. Yep, Moody's work was released as the first half of a CD released under Art Blakey's name, New Sounds. The rest of the CD includes Blakey and the Jazz Messengers (the first time that name was used?). I like this release... think I'll give it a spin tonight! Cheers, Shane
  6. No problem with the eMusic Remote here either (so far). What's REALLY pissing me off is the news that Epitaph/Hellcat/Fat Possum/Anti Records has left eMusic... apparently Epitaph thought that eMusic was not "charging enough" for their downloads. I lost a few albums (they have disappeared from the "My Downloads" section, I don't have them on my hard drive at the moment), so there's a few bucks gone out of my pocket. What's worse... I've lost quite a bit of respect for Epitaph. Their decision to leave eMusic (in favor of iTunes) has cost them some $$$ from me... I certainly won't be buying anything of theirs in the future unless/until they come back to eMusic. I'm sorry, but there's just no fucking way I'm spending 99 cents for a 2 minute punk song at iTunes. Ah well... I'm spending all of my downloads on OJC stuff anyways... I hope that all doesn't someday just disappear as well. Cheers, Shane
  7. I wish they'd reissue the whole thing, rather than just the master takes... the music on this is just too damn good to cut any of it out (well... OK, a couple of tunes could be cut without any huge loss, but the rest is gold). Cheers, Shane
  8. A couple of years ago I had the privilege of seeing Joseph and Henry Grimes play together at a house in West Hollywood... they played for a couple of hours (I think that's about how long they played), and it was one of the most intense, beautiful, and spiritual things I have ever experienced. I guess it's true that Joseph has probably showcased himself less than some of the other members of AEoC, but as an individual he is an amazing musician and person. His music (and compositions) floats, soars, stings, rumbles, illuminates... and leaves no doubt that his is a beautiful soul! Joseph Jarman? Oh HELL YEAH! Cheers, Shane
  9. Just got a note from the Jazz Bakery stating that this band will be playing there in October. I can't wait... the line-up looks great! Cheers, Shane
  10. I'd easily shell out $30 to see this group in action! Roscoe and George together... magic! Cheers, Shane
  11. Honestly, WTF is your beef with Cuscuna? You hammer him in almost every other post you make here on this board. "Fast buck artist"? Fuck you, dude. I'm convinced you think Cuscuna shafted you out of some recording deal back in the day, and you just can't forgive him. I know you're a frustrated musician and all, but damn... Cheers (to Mosaic, of course), Shane
  12. Go with SEAGATE drives... I've got a bunch of them (ranging from 100GB to 750GB in size), and they have always worked perfectly for me. The prices are really starting to come down, and every now and then places like Fry's Electronics will offer a variety of rebates on these drives (the last one I used was for $100 off a $200 drive... not a bad deal there!). Cheers, Shane
  13. I grabbed this one this month as well... figured I only spent about $1.50 on it in total. I knew what I was getting into, but damn... So NOT worth the $1.50. There are a couple of decent moments (and I do mean only a couple) that almost make this album worthwhile... not something I can see myself listening to more than once or twice. I love Grant, but this one is strikkly shite! Cheers, Shane
  14. Wow! Beautiful pictures... simply stunning! Thanks for posting these! Cheers, Shane
  15. Just finished listening to this... still blows me away every time! Bless you, Mr. Coltrane! 50 years old, huh? Wonder which Spanish label will be releasing this today... I'm surprised Gambit/Lonehill/Fresh Sounds/Nanker Phelge/whoever hasn't already come out with this in some super deluxe packaging! Guess I'll check the stores tomorrow... Cheers, Shane
  16. I know Stanley is delusional at the best of times, but WTF is up with this statement? Vick on his way to being one of the greatest QBs in the history of the sport? Wow... just... wow! Cheers, Shane
  17. It's coming out this month as an RVG! Cheers, Shane
  18. Translation: She whimped out, and didn't have a clear view of what you're supposed to do at college. You can say that again! I had a run-in with the "esteemed" Dr. Holbrook during my time as a graduate student at the University of Florida... she actually banned me from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for one year for, of all things, walking up to my assigned seat from a lower entrance rather than the upper entrance. I wasn't too worried about the ban... it's pretty hard for security to find you among 86,000 fans. How/why OSU made her president I'll never understand. Cheers, Shane
  19. A-fuckin'-men! I don't know why, but this Lonehill release pisses me off more than any of the others. Maybe it's because I know they downloaded it from Dime, where some kind soul shared it with the world free of charge. I got this from Dime the day it was uploaded there, and I'd be glad to "share" with anyone who wants a copy... just shoot me a PM. Cheers, Shane
  20. Hi All, Sorry to derail this thread a bit, but does anyone know what happened to the creator of this thread (Out2Lunch/Todd)? I know he had some medical issues and was hoping that someone would know how he's doing these days. Cheers, Shane
  21. Hi Jim, Hey, there's some good shit to be found on this CD! I see that Monday Michiru makes an appearance as well. Check out this website for some samples of this album: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...friendID=178268 Cheers, Shane
  22. I am Dr. George Butler. I know, I know... it's all my fault.
  23. But she is the most attractive drummer I've ever seen: (always wanted to use that emoticon) Cheers, Shane
  24. Happy birthday, Ray... You're one of the good 'uns! Here's to many more! Cheers, Shane
  25. Somehow reminds me of Joe Jackson.
