  1. Played this one: Not that great. Tina Brooks & Lou Donaldson aren't in top form. Kept wishing it would just turn into a trio session. McFadden was nice though.
  2. Definitely. Loved every minute of it
  3. Starting off with some Doug Carn Then some Billy Bang And now, Arthur Blythe
  4. Sounds like a jackass. Did he ever play with Getz?
  5. Viking Wolf Norwegian werewolf horror. Not bad
  6. I dig this album
  7. I read this too, didn't remember it came from JG but it stuck with me and I always think about it when I listen to his albums.
  8. Glad they're OK. This American phenomenon must seem so weird and grotesque to other parts of the world. Meanwhile its a way of life here with some real trauma to victims families and survivors.
  9. Always a good play when cleaning the house
  10. The JJ Johnson was recorded in 1980 and on the Pablo Today label. The band is made up of Ray Brown & Tony Dumas on bass, Kevin on drums, Billy Childs & Pete Jolly on keyboards, Ernie Watts on tenor, Clark Terry on flugle/trumpet, and Vic Feldman on vibes/keyboards. Looks like a similar line up but with some variation. It's a good album though.
  11. Good comp, although I'm not the biggest KC fan.
  12. JJ's Concepts In Blue 👍
  13. Started today with The Awakening's Mirage The first track is such a killer. Then on to: Martino's Consciousness
  14. The Mingus is from two sessions in 1960 and has Eldridge & Jo Jones, although the last track is a drum solo from Danny Richmond. It's excellent.
  15. Mingus' Mysterious Blues
  16. Earlier today it was Raw Roots vol. 1 Followed by Can's Saw Delight. Sometimes this is my favorite record of theirs.
  17. Satori Then SART SART was more uneven than I remembered it being. And now: I love the lineup on this record with Lou on "electric alto" 👍 Pretty good all the way through. Title track is the weakest one on here.
  18. Vast majority is via terrestrial radio although there's also online streaming of live radio mixed in. Country stations still rule the day in the industry. That hasn't changed maybe since the 90s.
  19. Savoy compilation of early 50s MJQ tracks with Clarke & Al Jones splitting time on the drums. Also some tracks with Ray Brown on bass.
  20. Jon Hassell's Power Spot
  21. This is probably my favorite record with Randy Brecker on it.
