BN reissued vol 1 on a recent Tone Poet LP. This Doubletime BN CD's got 'em both 👍 Laymon Jackson's playing is a highlight

Someone at CBS likes jazz, well at least mainstream jazz-related artists. They did a pre-Grammy feature on Samara Joy and had one on Trombone Shorty this AM. I saw some of this Mancini feature as well.

Some of these look interesting but I'm not really a fan of live jazz on vinyl unless it's extremely well recorded.

Several Jack McDuff albums have uncredited bass players. He makes it work, but I generally prefer to hear the B3 bass lines.

Jarrett, Peacock & Motian at the Deer Head Inn. Probably cool to see live. First & last Jarrett album I bought. They really should credit the kazoo player.

Played this one: Not that great. Tina Brooks & Lou Donaldson aren't in top form. Kept wishing it would just turn into a trio session. McFadden was nice though.

I read this too, didn't remember it came from JG but it stuck with me and I always think about it when I listen to his albums.

Glad they're OK. This American phenomenon must seem so weird and grotesque to other parts of the world. Meanwhile its a way of life here with some real trauma to victims families and survivors.

The JJ Johnson was recorded in 1980 and on the Pablo Today label. The band is made up of Ray Brown & Tony Dumas on bass, Kevin on drums, Billy Childs & Pete Jolly on keyboards, Ernie Watts on tenor, Clark Terry on flugle/trumpet, and Vic Feldman on vibes/keyboards. Looks like a similar line up but with some variation. It's a good album though.

The Mingus is from two sessions in 1960 and has Eldridge & Jo Jones, although the last track is a drum solo from Danny Richmond. It's excellent.
