  1. Goes down well with some Tubby Hayes.
  2. Very sad to hear. Saw him in the lineup with Charles Tolliver’s Big Band, over 10 years ago now. Some great recordings with Hutcherson/Land - RIP.
  3. Parlophone mono. Lineup with Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Ross.
  4. I’ve got an old mono pressing of that one and I agree, it sounds great. This one from a past RSD. Good stuff.
  5. I recall seeing Basile heading up a reconstituted Slide Hampton Octet on a Smalls ‘livestream’ a while back. Impressive ! An excellent reissue - I picked up the vinyl. Good sleeve notes by all concerned too.
  6. She was on TV here last night in a new remake of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Worked right up until very recently. Didn’t see it, alas.
  7. Nope - Even as a Boycott fan, I’d put her ahead of all of those. Brought up near Pudsey, no less.
  8. The greatest thing to ever come out of Yorkshire. RIP - very classy and a trouper, totally irreplaceable.
  9. From an excellent reissue series courtesy Henri Renaud. Tone Poet
  10. The T-shirt is out.. https://www.redbubble.com/i/sweatshirt/The-legend-of-pianist-from-south-by-drupadiartwa/56374925.LEP2X
  11. The latest LP from Trunk. Mellow library tracks, with offerings including Frank Ricotti, John Cameron and Johnny Scott.
  12. Plus there’s the bonus of the Zawinul/Fischer ‘Experience In E’.
  13. Hot off the press - Live at UCL Union, 1966.
  14. Thanks for that - and had only just noticed it on that site. I only today worked out that that signature was Holdsworth’s! Quite thrilled with the discovery - LP was bought by chance some years ago and they have all signed it on the back. I saw Paz at Ronnie Scotts around 1981 so Holdsworth might have been in the band but can’t remember. I do remember Crouch, Castle and Warleigh at that gig though. They were actually support act to one of the US visitors.
  15. ‘Paz at Chichester’ - this copy by the British fusion band of the 70s/80s signed by Dick Crouch, Ray Warleigh, Geoff Castle and the rest of the band. Plus by one other musician who I never associated with Paz but who gigged with them in the early 80s - Alan Holdsworth.
  16. I saw the band with Rene, Steve Davis and co. in the mid 90s that did ‘Rhythm of the Earth’ as part of a Cross-Canada Festival tour (Dolly must have been happy with the $). It was fabulous - nice venue, great band and I thought all my Xmases had come at once as I had been waiting lots of years to catch him live ! They played much of the material from that album. The second time I caught Jackie with the Cedar Walton Trio (Cedar, David Williams, Billy Higgins) at LA’s Jazz Bakery, playing in a more conservative, standards-focussed style - got to briefly chat with Jackie on that occasion (friendly) and the whole band signed the Jazz Bakery flyer for me, which I treasure to this day.
  17. Big fan of that set since it first came out. Good stuff.
  18. I remember seeing Moore with Coleman in that lineup, back in 1979/80. Strozier was also in there. Reel to Real on a roll at present, after their Neil Swainson reissue.
