  1. Funnily enough, very much available in vinyl in Europe from 1983/84 via the Pathe Macaroni series from France, which is how I got my first copy.
  2. Yes, 2006 sounds about right.
  3. Mono version, courtesy BillF
  4. Well - it wasn’t quite that lineup when last I visited (and the only time) but Dizzy’s Big Band was there sans Dizzy but with Slide Hampton and James Moody. There was also Hank Jones, Trio Beyond with Jack deJohnette, Yusef Lateef and the Belmondos, Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler with Norma Winstone, Regina Carter and that was just the jazz. On the main stage was Buddy Guy, Roy Hargrove’s Christol, Sly and the Family Stone (without Sly) and Candi Staton. I’m sure there were others too which I may have forgotten. To cap it all one of the shop stalls had the entire 32 Jazz CD catalogue at 5 Euros each ! Golden era.. Oh - I almost forgot the Wayne Shorter Quartet and Pat Martino performances that weekend too.
  5. Customers for this set might be interested in the wonderful little web site run by Tubby’s later-career drummer, Spike Wells. Spike’s site is full of interesting articles and music from his archive. A gem ! https://www.spikewells.co.uk/
  6. My copy, picked up in Tokyo, is the Sawano with the UK Columbia cover art. Good session.
  7. Happy Birthday Bill, good listening !
  8. The Universal site was still showing 8th Dec release date last time I looked. If it drags on further into Jan I will not be a happy camper !
  9. A very generalised, glib and all reaching statement there, not borne out whatsoever by experience although no doubt applying for the occasion you mention.
  10. Never heard the digital, my comment was about the FM broadcast.
  11. Ah, the stage of the old Fairfield Hall, Croydon. Fond memories of that place.
  12. Know the feeling ! All the best !
  13. I remember the BBC broadcasting that Rotterdam concert - from memory it was in very good sound. They broadcast about an hour of it.
  14. I remember seeing them on tour too - good stuff.
  15. Belated Best Wishes !
  16. The old perennial..
  17. In memory, JohnS
  18. I am truly gutted and extremely sorry to hear this news. I wasn’t aware at all of John’s illness and having not posted on here for some months, very uncharacteristically, I was starting to get worried. He will be sorely missed, RIP.
  19. Happy Birthday, hope it is/was a good one !
