Hiroshi Tanno - A wonderful jazz vinyl mail order dealer from Japan (ran a shop as well I believe). He closed shop over a decade ago now but back in the day his listings were full of gems - reasonably priced too and invariably immaculate condition. Mr Tanno is missed !
This Princeton Exchange place sounds like the ‘dog’s proverbials’. Too bad that it is thousands of miles away (or maybe a good thing - for my wallet! )
Just found an original copy of this gem in Oxfam. Superb stuff - turns out that this is the ex Surrey Library copy. Now has a good home.
Many interesting articles, including early reviews of 60s Blue Notes, Nessa releases etc.
What ?
I think my set must be a bit delayed due to the CD set to be shipped with it. Damn !
I will console myself with spinning some original Tubby Fontana..
I saw that group too - I think it had Frank Strozier on alto though and it might have been Idris Muhammed on drums. Unfortunately, I didn’t take notes ! Ronnie Scott’s, circa 1980.
