  1. -38C in Quebec City and -30C in Toronto acording to latest reports ! I'll take the rain storms.. Good move. I suspect that there will be an increasing premium placed on location vis a vis flood risk and as some homes become un-insurable. Roads were clear on my commute today. It got worse the further West you went - some of the fields in the Somerset levels were predictably under water.
  2. Sorry to hear this. Always thought he was brilliant with the Buddy Rich Big Band on 'Mercy Mercy..' and the other PJs. RIP.
  3. Not round here it didn't. Coastal areas have been badly affected. Cornwall in particular (no suprise).
  4. Quite the storm overnight but clear skies and flat calm this morning. Now heading North - enjoy !

  7. A good one. Originals of this title have been going balistic of late so the MM is 'good value'.

  18. I use the bog-standard Naim speaker cable (NACA 5) and it is just fine as is. Precision powerline cabling to selected components has made a very noticeable difference though, compared with standard IEC cables/connectors.
  19. Yes chewy, it is. Just listening to it - not as funky as Johnny Coles' version.
  20. youre absolutely correct, even though its the great red garland, theres this real sterile sound to these records. theres one on MUSE from abt this time thats good... how am i gonna find this one: Red Garland - Auf Wiedersehen (MPS (G) 15322) Red Garland (piano) Sam Jones (bass) Roy Brooks (drums) RCA Studios, NYC, May, 1971 Hobo Joe Auf Wiedersehen A Night In Tunisia Old Stinky Butt Stella By Starlight Daahoud ** also issued on MPS/BASF (G) 21 20910-5. I found a copy of the Japanese CD reissue of this just a few weeks ago. Very pleased to find it - until then had just the one track on a compilation BASF 'Piano Power' LP.

    Vocalion

That clinches it. My order's in.. Looks like this music was recorded at Morgan Studios, which should make it worth a listen. Vocalion have done a good job with their Morgan Series reissues. Thanks for the 'heads up'.
