  1. Available once more at the deal price ! I hear 'Fred The Shred' is offering hire purchase.
  2. "Pop Market" currently has the 8 box set/trumpet case/replica mouthpiece/kitchen sink Miles Davis 'Genius' box for $399, with a further 15% off using the code. Incredible deal !
  3. and Bill Hollman.
  4. Gerald Wilson !
  5. Great deal, great set - whoever got it ! You don't happen to have any spare vinyl ones stacked away in your Alpine redoubt, do you?
  6. Although not totally unexpected - sad news to start today with. RIP.
  7. Some excellent photos there. Is Coltrane wearing Monk's shades?
  8. Just put a reservation on a copy of the Getz/Raney Mosaic on LP. It's eluded me for years.
  9. Heinz Wolf Heinz Sauer Beanz Meanz Heinz
  10. JJ Johnson 'JJ's Broadway' (Japanese Verve, stereo)
  11. Heff Hoff Hoffmeister Bear
  12. Miles Davis Plugged Nickel Box for $89.95 via PopMarket: Plugged Nickel Box
  13. Is that a euphemism for something "Ryan Giggsy"?
  14. I cannot function first thing in the morning without a whole pot of tea ! Usually the one purveyed by the Monkey. Followed several hours later by a pot of Starbucks House Blend..
  15. Gigi Campi does make announcements on that Prague DVD (Francy Boland being the epitome of 'understated', I don't think he liked doing intros). Essential CBBB !
  16. The Campi film? That was great! I think it was on the German/French arte TV channel - and I think I don't have it on DVD, just watched it when it was on... would love to catch it again, the interviews with all the guys (Johnny Griffin!) and the music - it was great to watch AND liste for a change! Got to dig through my DVDs to see if I might have it... Yes - it was on 'Arte' I think. It's in German with no subtitles and is one of those films which has me kicking myself that my German is not better than being able to order a beer..
  17. The Big 18 'The Swing Collection' (UK RCA stereo, 2LP)
  18. He was highly entertaining, for sure. I guess the steroids that these guys take won't have helped. Sorry to hear this.

    Duke Pearson

Just been listening to Lee Morgan's 'Standards' album again - that one stands up as a good Duke Pearson session too. Some nice arrangements.
  20. Strange that I came across the LP of 'Faces' this weekend. That one has eluded me to date. I have it on video somewhere though (I think) - if it's the same session that resulted in much of the footage for the German (or was it Swiss?) TV tribute to Gigi Cambi. Maybe The King knows this one?

    Duke Pearson

Very interesting ! Especially to hear that he was thinking of getting Mainstream to record them. A sign of very significant change at Blue Note at the time, I guess. Do I detect also the embryo of Frank Foster's 70s Big band out of this lineup?
