  1. You forgot Sepanyol.
  2. Voting and posting from Malaysia.
  3. Here's a short e-mail from Scott on the set. Jazzmatazz lists it as a 1940s Columbia/Okeh set. Any experts/fanatics can render Scott some help? :rsmile:
  4. Volume 11 is here. Together with a Louis Armstrong live CD, the first of four volumes. More information at the Storyville site. D.E.T.S Vol.11 Louis Armstrong (April 12 release in the U.S? according to Jazzmatazz)
  5. Three tunes stand out for me as I can pick them out quite easily. - Well You Needn't - Brilliant Corners - 'Round Midnight
  6. I insist on a regular Mosaic, otherwise I won't buy it.
  7. Candu means opium in several languages. The album should be banned unless it changes that song title. :rsly:
  8. ...and James Reece Europe's military band? Yes!
  9. Ragtime and folk music.
  10. Have been pointing and clicking...have received the bill(s)...and still pointing and clicking.
  11. There are still a few stores here that stock a decent selection of jazz titles. One even has a separate room for jazz and is well decorated enough to give an exclusive feel. Only grouse is some releases take months/years to arrive (worst case was nine years for the Miles Plugged Nickle box , but they redeemed themselves by pricing the set low ). That said, my online purchases outweigh physical store ones by a ratio of 10:1. There's just so much more available out there. And I certainly don't miss browsing the store racks cause I can browse the online ones.
  12. Got it - listened to the discs many times and enjoyed them immensely. Excellent music, some good work by Red and there are even a couple of 20s 'avant garde' arrangements. Quite a bit of dated vocals and some interesting scatting by Cliff Edwards. Then there's the fabulous booklet. Overall a must have set of vintage jazz, but I'm partial to this stuff.
  13. Another stack of Jazz In Paris discs - Zoot Sims/Henri Renaud, Rhoda Scott, Michel De Villers/Claude Bolling, Buddy Banks & Bobby Jaspar etc. I'm sure this is not the end of the orders.
  14. Listening to some Jon Bovi and Lef Deppard right now.

I KNOW you have a version by a jazz orchestra... Definitely losing my memory...Joya sings too. Wow! Apart from the Sonny Clark trio version, I have none of the above. I need to get me more albums.
  16. How about Pet Shop Boys Liked these Brit bands a lot at one stage (still do to some extent): - Beatles - Pink Floyd - Hawkwind - Motorhead

    Herbie Hancock

Totally agree, in fact I listened to Disc 5 today (the SPEAK LIKE A CHILD session) which I found thoroughly enjoyable particularly the 3 takes including the master of "Riot". Wonderful to hear how a piece can evolve into a slice of perfection. Absolutely. Got it only last week and listened to all 6 discs in one sitting, which I've never done before with box sets. Empyrean Isles, Maiden Voyage and Speak Like A Child are IMO some of the best modern jazz albums ever made.

A song list here. I don't recall these being played by jazz musicians but like 'em very much: - Blues In The Night - Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive Plus the others listed above and more.
  19. Mosaic Records gets one (Category 87)

Yes. The Savoys. There should be a more complete reissue by the label. In the meantime, we have this one to enjoy:
  21. Only 9 but I love em all a great deal. Btw - Can anyone comment on the Milestone releases (Prime Time etc)? Thanks.
  22. After three e-mails and no response, I'll have to say never order from this site. Better to buy from Mosaic and know for sure that you'll get your goods rather than add to the coffers of people with dubious credentials.
  23. Looking forward to the Andrew Hill and Don Cherry albums. Will probably pick up Music From The Connection as well.
  24. How about 15,000 OK. Maybe I was jumping to conclusions but I've had 4-5 of my orders stolen in the past 3 years, amounting to 25+ discs and a box set or two. Happens too often whenever I use the postal service rather than courier which is traceable. Who knows where the items ended up. Luckily, the CD companies were nice enough to replace my undelivered items. Edit: Have e-mailed to meet someone from their company on the pretext of buying items directly. See if I can dig up some information, if they ever respond.
