  1. Since I seem to be having some trouble accessing it, I guess it's OK by me if you cancel it, Jim. And I do miss the multi-hour trash-a-thons.
  2. Hope you're having a great one, Felser! Good day to have a birthday (mine was yesterday)
  3. They recently added the complete Last Waltz board tapes - start to finish. Also no studio cuts (Staple Singers, etc.)
  4. I'm sure this is great. Apparently it's from the same dates as "Ella in Hollywood," which is one of her best live albums.
  5. I havent heard this or his other Mack Avenue releases, but was stunned at how good his 90's releases on MAMA were, possibly the strongest of his career (and I really like the 60's Pacific Jazz stuff), so have no problem imagining that this one could be really special. Even better than "Detroit" is "In My Time" on Mack Ave, Felser. Start with that one.
  6. I never heard THAT before.
  7. Completely caught me by surprise: Alvin Queen "Europia," from his "Jammin' Uptown" album. S-M-O-K-I-N'!!!!
  8. The box is worth every penny.
  9. There are lots of XTC albums worth picking up, too.
  10. Sonic Youth's newest, "The Eternal", is their best album in years - a good place to start for anyone interested. As for early Yo La Tengo, I would start with "New Wave Hot Dogs" - lots of good tunes there. More recently, "I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass" was pretty good, too. Spoon's "Gimme Fiction" is a must have.
  11. Right.........the B&N sale - 50% off.
  12. I just got "Last Year at Mareinbad" and "Bob Le Flambeur" - great prices!
  13. I don't think they're currently together (they've broken up more than once), but the Posies might work for you. I think "Frosting on the Beater" is their best.
  14. Don't think so........plus they would make him cut his hair. Rediculous.
  15. Better ask Jim to disable DickBlocker I tried ...
  16. Give it UP! Buddy Guy - Roland Kirk - Jack Bruce
  17. Anyone have trouble running Live Chat besides me? I keep getting a message that says "Error. Click for details". When I click there's a pop up with a whole bunch of nonsensical Java script. I re-installed Java, but no change.
  18. Who else (in the early 70s when this was probably aired) would mention Max Roach, Sonny Stitt, Mickey Roker, Archie Shepp, Arthur Taylor, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey and others, in a comedy routine?
  19. Cosby was funny pre-"Cosby". Remember (those of you old enough), there were very few mainstream "comedians of color" in the 60s-70s. He brought a fresh approach. This video is interesting for for all the great jazz artists of the time that he names in his bit (particularly Max Roach and Sonny Stitt). "Funny" is secondary - although he had Jack Benny falling off of his chair.
  20. Bill Cosby drumming experience Funny, but cool because he drops ALL the right names, too.
