  1. Art Ensemble of Chicago ECM box. New Directions - Live in Europe disk.
  2. I'm ready!
  3. Saw them Friday night at Big Ears. Thought they were great! They played at the same hour as Comet is Coming (who my friends saw), but I think I saw the better show. Mats is a far better player than Shabaka. I appreciate what Hutchings is bringing to the jazz scene, but he's not quite "there" yet for me. Yes, I used ear plugs, but that wasn't a problem.
  4. Oh, nooooooooooo!!!
  5. Great festival this year! So many good shows, it's hard to process them all. Nice to meet and spend some time with Randy Hersom, Chuck Nessa and his wife, Ann.
  6. Will definitely check that out. I wasn't familiar with her work, but saw her in January with Carmen Staaf doing ‘Science Fair’ at the NYC Winter Jazzfest. Very impressive drummer!
  7. Saw them at Big Ears. Blew the roof off of the Bijou Theatre! Pictured: Moor Mother, Don Moye, Roscoe
  8. I was trying to figure out if this is a Mosaic/Strata East release, or just that Mosaic is selling it.
  9. When my mother wasn't well, and living 350 miles away I got a LOT of information and help from the Family Caregiver Alliance. I'm not sure if they operate outside of CA, but there's a lot of good info on their website as well as references in other organizations around the country. Worth looking into. Family Caregiver Alliance
  10. Also a big fan of early Green on Red! I like the anthology idea. Keep thinking I should get that Big Star box, too.
  11. I wonder why THEY didn't put one on the website?
  12. Also playing at SFJAZZ with that trio in June. Double bill with Kenny Garrett. I'm going. CHRIS POTTER CIRCUITS TRIO & KENNY GARRETT QUINTET
  13. Good point!
  14. I downloaded that from eMusic several years ago when they first put it up. IIRC, it was in that same price range, maybe cheaper.
  15. The downside of the festival experience. You can't see EVERYthing!
  16. THAT looks good, too. He's doing a 4-day residency here, and that trio is on another day. MAR 14–17 | SFJAZZ RESIDENT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR JOE LOVANO
  17. Seeing him on Thursday at SFJAZZ with his Nonet: Steve Slagle alto, Ralph Lalama tenor, Gary Smulyan baritone, Barry Ries trumpet, Larry Farrell trombone, James Weidman piano, Cameron Brown bass, Otis Brown III drums
  18. Same here
  19. Rolling Stone Preview Sun of Goldfinger’s Genre-Blurring New Avant-Garde Opus Hoping to see them at Big Ears!
  20. It's working for me on Windows/Chrome. Maybe they're launching it today.
  21. He's on Facebook. You might try contacting him there.
  22. I kind of missed the Saints for some reason, but definitely need to check them out. Other related Birdman bands: New Race (one-off MC5/Birdman tour and albums), and New Christs.
  23. Thanks! Not a large venue, which helped to get close.
  24. Australia has some great bands, for sure! Love the Hoodoos, Spiders, Church ... and also Radio Birdman.
