ghost of miles Posted Monday at 08:14 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:14 PM The news about Kenny Weir's passing got me to wondering how many of this forum's original posters are still here and active to any degree. Many of us were refugees from the Blue Note bulletin board, which started going down in flames not long into 2003. Twenty-three years feels like at least a couple of centuries in Internet time, and it's a testament to the enduring strength and appeal of this board's community that it's still around, through all of the online permutations such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Reddit (where many online communities now gather), Substack, etc. Quote
jazzbo Posted Monday at 08:23 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:23 PM I'm here, not as active as I used to be. Quote
Milestones Posted Monday at 10:56 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:56 PM I have been heard a long time, but I don't think that far back. My first favored jazz forum was Jazz Corner. Quote
mikeweil Posted Monday at 11:03 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:03 PM Trying to participate as long as I can. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted Monday at 11:34 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:34 PM 544 users registered between the board's creation on March 6, 2003 & December 31, 2003. Looking at the list, I see quite a few names that still post here, a few that I know have stopped posting and a several that are no longer with us. Quote
JSngry Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM I was Member #3, back when they did that. I guess I'm still here? Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Just now, JSngry said: I was Member #3, back when they did that. I guess I'm still here? Unless a member was deleted and is no longer listed, you are actually #2 after Jim Alfredson. First 10 users: Jim Alfredson JSngry Jim Dye Saint Vitus maren Peter Johnson catesta uli Chuck Nessa Philip I'm pretty sure that Jim Dye & uli are no longer with us. I'm #72. Quote
JSngry Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Iirc. Jim's brother, aka Use 3D was #2. The #s still exist? And I do miss maren. She was cool. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted yesterday at 01:02 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:02 AM Use3D is in the database at #13. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM What’s my number? Probably over 50. I think I procrastinated a week before I signed up, iirc. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM I think Bill Fenohr, who joined pretty early on and posted often until 2005, may have passed away in 2021. 3 minutes ago, Rooster_Ties said: What’s my number? All I can figure is that if someone gets totally deleted, maybe the member id numbers didn't reset? Quote
Eric Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:58 AM Did Tom At Blue Note ever make the jump? 2003 guy here. Quote

Ed S Posted yesterday at 02:48 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:48 AM I joined this board on March 11th, 2003. Still regularly check the board and only post occasionally. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted yesterday at 03:23 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:23 AM oh, huh, looks like I joined on January 9, 2004. I could have sworn it was earlier, but apparently the months/years run together. I do remember the BNBB shutdown and being informed that this was the place to go. Quote
GA Russell Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM (edited) In 2002 or 2003, I joined AAJ. I remember when the Blue Note board guys joined AAJ en masse, but then left en masse to start up organissimo. I waited a few months before coming on board. August, 2003.
