    • Email just received from cdjapan:   Hello from CDJapan Today, we would like to provide information for our U.S. customers regarding the impact of the reciprocal tariff on U.S. deliveries. Following the suspension of the de minimis exemption (which allowed tax-free imports under USD 800), shipments to the United States will now be handled as outlined below: In principle, a 15% import duty will be added based on the total product value, along with a customs clearance fee charged by the shipping carrier. The clearance fee varies by carrier and is expected to be around USD 8–10. DHL Import duties and customs clearance fees are to be paid upon delivery. FedEx Priority (Pak) Import duties and customs clearance fees are to be paid upon delivery. FedEx FICP Starting September 12, 2025, duties and clearance fees will be prepaid at the time of order. A 25% charge (including both duty and clearance fee) will be added to the total product value at checkout. Japan Post Import duties and clearance fees are to be paid upon delivery. Japan Post shipments to the U.S. are currently temporarily suspended. Note Although U.S. customs regulations suggest that certain items—such as CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and books (informational materials)—may be exempt from the 15% import duty, it remains unclear whether carriers are currently processing these shipments accordingly. Therefore, please choose between FedEx Priority, Priority (Pak), or FICP based on the contents of your order. Please note that our shipping policy may be revised in accordance with future developments in U.S. customs procedures. Thank you for your continued support.

    • Wonder if anyone has previously mentioned an Ahmed Abdul-Malik set - six original releases on various labels (Riverside, Prestige, New-Jazz, RCA-Victor, Status) - would have been a nice Mosaic Select IMHO. The UK Avid label have 4 of the releases on a twofer CD set. Won't happen now with the demise of Selects. The recent live (Stockholm, club residency over 5 nights) tribute 5CD set "Giant Beauty" by [Ahmed] (yes, the brackets are part of the name) is highly recommended IMHO.

    • #4: Boy, is this good.  At first blush, I thought it might be Ruby Braff and Ellis Larkins, but the pianist is too forward and insistent.  I suspect the pianist is Oscar P.  The flugelhorn?  Dunno, but I like it. #5: Another enjoyable cut.  I suspect it's Oregon, who I dig immensely.  If it is them, I'm glad McCandless isn't on oboe - he can sound cloying on that, #6: A tango?  Besame Mucho, or some permutation thereof.  Played in a very suave manner indeed!  Love Me Or Leave Me?  Well done - they carry the mood.  Perry Robinson? #7: I think I have this: is it Dexter and Freddie on one of those Prestige releases?  Or with Woody Shaw and George Benson on one of those late-stage Columbia releases?  Anyway, it's Dex; nuff said. #8: A live track.  Sounds like Lee Morgan.   #9: Do the funky yak!  it's got a good beat and you can dance to it.  I could make out about half the lyrics, but it seems to be a shaggy yak story.  Good groove. #10:  I think I have this as well.  Is it Kenny Burrell with some vocalist? #11: I could listen to stuff like this all night.  Just needs a good single-malt scotch and I'm good.  Is it a Texas tenor? #12: Beautiful way to end the BFT.  Nice and stately.  Beautiful tone and restraint. Good stuff!  Thanks for posting.
