    • Rahsaan Roland Kirk “Volunteered Slavery” Atlantic/32Jazz edition cd Kirk doesn’t do much on this one. . . just plays Tenor Saxophone, Flute, Nose Flute, Mazello, Stritch, Gong, Whistle, and sings and speaks.
    • Ruby Braff All Stars “Braff!” Portrait Masters cd Baritone Saxophone - Ernie Caceras Bss – Eddie Jones Drums – Buzzy Drootin Guitar – Freddie Green or Steve Jordan Piano – Dave McKenna or Nat Pierce Tenor Saxophone – Coleman Hawkins Trombone – Lawrence Brown Trumpet – Ruby Braff Vibraphone – Don Elliott AKA on Epic LP 398×400 29.1 KB
    • Joshua Redman “Words Fall Short” Blue Note cd Well-recorded and nicely composed this is a new release I am enjoying. Melissa Aldana contributes very ably, and the blend of the beautiful voice of the beautiful Gabrielle Cavassa and Redman’s tenor on the final track is so well presented. . . wow.     Followed by “Herb Ellis meets Jimmy Giuffre” Verve Elite cd I had forgotten what a neglected gem this album is. First, Ellis’ sound is just what I love in a jazz guitar. And the arrangements have such delicate texture and grace and the engineering portrays them so romantically. . . the stellar cast of West Coast players also execute them with heart and accuracy. A great album!
    • Just saw Midnight Cowboy (for first time!) on the big screen.  Tonight will be catching Some Like It Hot, which I have seen.  And tomorrow probably Chunking Express, which I have not seen.
    • I'm not sure that it's the same "Slow TV" (Seasons?) that I'm talking about - and, yes, I'm not paying 85 bucks a month(!) to find out. The original Norwegian Slow TV is what I used to watch - especially while walking on a treadmill during the extra hot months when it would reach triple digits out - or just having it on the wall during the day with the sounds filtering thru the house speakers. Much of it is on YouTube and so that's an option, I guess ... but, again, shows disappearing while you're in the middle of watching them on some channel, then you have to pay for them later as they migrate to somewhere else. We had some visitors from Köln a while back and had a live stream showing from a Namib desert waterhole on the screen. They screamed "Hey! We've been there!" and talked about their adventures on that trip. It was a pretty remarkable coincidence.
