      Last Tuesday, the night before I left for Knoxville, I saw Johnny Marr at the Great American Music Hall club in SF. I've seen him a number of times and he never disappoints. This one was no exception.

      I was there. Very interesting presentation. The fact that Roscoe basically played solo for an entire hour (mostly on Bass Sax!) was astounding  - especially at his age. And it seemed like Tyshawn was very unsure about how to contribute. He played very little. I saw 22 performances. Highlights were: William Hooker Quartet Masada I w/Zorn, Dave Douglas, Greg Cohen, Joey Baron Roscoe & Tyshawn Marc Ribot/Mary Halvorson "Secret Show", Friday night at the Postmodern Sound Exchange Halvorson: Canis Major Electrical Field of Love: Harriett Tubman + Georgia Anne Muldrow Patricia Brennan Septet (Adam O'Farrill, Marcus Gilmore, Mauricio Herrera, Jon Irabagon, Mark Shim, Kim Cass) - lots of energy and the crowd that night was electric! Gary Lucas & Gods and Monsters: w/Calvin Weston and Ernie Brooks Dave Douglas GIFTS Quintet: w/Tomeka Reid, James Brandon Lewis, Rafiq Bhatia, Ian Chang

      Yes the stuff with Tony Bevan & John Edwards is great, IMO saw the film a few years back. Loved it.
