This covers the team's NHL years, and ignores (what I think is much more interesting) their time in the WHA.

What live music are you going to see tonight?
Pepico Jazz replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Tonight I will go to Jimmy Glass. Two of the best musicians in Valencia will play, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker themes: Francisco Latino Blanco: Baritone sax. David Pastor: Trumpet. Miquel Asensio: Drums. Miquel Alvarez: Bass -
Leonor Gonzalez – Cantos De Mi Tierra Y De Mi Raza This really is a superb record and it is weird that it is so rarely mentioned.
-
Pony Poindexter - New Orleans Fire: Live 1969

I had the Session LP and let it go; nice, but didn't feel like something I'd (personally) return to much. -
There seem to be quite a few - how would you prioritize them? Thanks

A complete Pablo Recordings of Zoot Sims on Mosaic would be great. (But will very likely never happen.)

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

1936-1941 Decca sides. An essential compilation, I'd say.

It was about 20 years ago when I was at a weekend jazz event in California.Rein De Graaf was attending the event as a listener, but not scheduled to perform. My good friend (the late) George Ziskind ,a fine jazz pianist ,located a room with a piano and wanted to play a bit just to keep his chops in shape. As he began to play in this mostly empty room, Rein De Graaff walked in and asked if he could also play. So for about one hour George and Rein alternated at the piano, each playing 2 tunes each time around. It was a reat treat for me to have the opportunity to hear two very good jazz pianists. They both enjoyed it so much, that they agreed to do it again the next morning. So this was a second morning that I had a wonderful listening experience. Rein De Graaf is very much a BEBOP oriented musician. He played many tunes those 2 morning out of the "bebop" playbook. Tunes by Bird, Monk, Tadd and others.

Not sure how this relates ... finally got my copy (released 23 July 2025): They get the year right this time ... the only fault is that it's on the short side (29 minutes). Poindexter also sings a bit (on all tracks except "So Danço Samba" - full lyrics on #1 and #2, just a bit at the end of #3), which the credits fail to mention; Hammer is on organ on #1/2, and on piano on #3/#4. Going from Mike's discography, all but "Moanin'" seem to be new additions repertoire-wise? Track timings on the CD are: (not actual music, no stopwatches harmed etc.): 8:11, 5:46, 8:28, 6:50 (some applause is included) Pics taken from here: https://www.discogs.com/release/35685829-Pony-Poindexter-Live-At-The-Domicile-1968-Vol-2

Only got the 1961 Paris date last year, and it's right next to the player - indeed a great addition to the collection! And yep, it's been a while since we started out here 😉

Disc 2: Dreams and Roba part 1. So happy to have obtained this set. Challenging but very interesting music.

Listening to one of the first LPs I’ve ever owned, given to me by a Peace Corps volunteer my father directed in Swaziland (now Eswatini) unwanted from a care package they all received from Atlantic Records in 1969. It still plays and sounds wonderful! Leo Wright “Blues Shout” Atlantic mono LP
