That was really good. I don't know who the drum and bass players are but damn. Listening to this set now via the BN Connoisseur CDs, specifically the tracks with Edwin Swanston right now. Looks like he recorded a whole lot more on the piano. His organ playing is good and heavily blues based, at least on these tracks. His write up on discogs makes it sound like he was a good dude.

Sorry to hear this, he was a great contributor to this board since it's inception. Rest in Peace, Brownie.

My set arrived yesterday and I listened to several tracks. Interesting and good and the sound was pretty good too. I keep getting distracted by the Paul Chambers and Wynton Kelly Veejay set which arrived the other day but will get back to this soon.

And apparently regarded equally highly as an AP photographer!

Very sad news. I once met him shortly during a stay in Paris. A very nice and knowledgeable man, who has seen the performances of practically everybody passing through the town. A loss for the jazz world. R.I.P.

I enjoyed the film. Slow but tense. Great ending. The cinema I saw this at today (Barbican, London) said it had a ‘stress inducing jazz score’! Well, it had me tapping my foot but maybe why three people walked out before the end.

Bob Zurke on keys is a revelation on disc two. Really enjoyable stuff!

My set should arrive tomorrow, perhaps Saturday.

Forgot to mention that the presence of Connee Boswell on two tracks on disc 1 was a pleasant surprise! Has there ever been a discussion of putting together a Connee Boswell Mosaic set? (Iirc she pops up on the Bunny Berigan box and the recent V-Disc small group set.)
