  1. I'd have thought curling would be your sport.
  2. Great idea. Henry has definitely created his own musical world. Not much valuable "pre-Air" but I recommend Muhal's Young At Heart/Wise In Time. Search out the About Time dates. They are all fine. Then buy the rest. I just read your post in another thread where you said "Threadgill is sort of hit and miss with me" so I guess the above won't be of much help.
  3. Sadly my hair is using an exit strategy.
  4. Clifford, the lps only comprise about half the set. Full details HERE. Not meant as a sales pitch, just clarification.
  5. I heard "through the grapevine" a distributor of overruns/distressed merchandise recently made a large purchase of OJC vinyl from Concord.
  6. About 50 sets left.
  7. I don't think the US versions were "protected".
  8. All the best and thanks for your kindness.
  9. Back in the '70s and early '80s I lived on Kimball (between Bryn Mawr and Foster) and couldn't get NUR. I should be in Chicago for a few days this summer to remaster some of my stuff. We might be able to hook up then.
  10. I wouldn't say that out loud. She might be the most disliked person in the Chicago jazz community.
  11. I'm missing 1939-40.
  12. Email from Townsend this morning telling me all 5 Classics ordered (2 Williams, 1 Benny Carter & 2 Claude Hopkins) have been discontinued. The search continues.
  13. I have Lonely Star. All tracks are stereo with the exception of Tan Gaugin.
  14. Prestige reissued their Allen date in a coupling with a Joe Newman record on a cd called The Hot Trumpets.

    tatum on PABLO

Correct. When Granz decided to reenter the record biz with Pablo (in the mid '70s) he tried to buy Verve back from MGM. They declined but agreed to sell the Tatum masters.
  16. Yes I have that one. Thanks. I placed an order with Townsend (thanks to LAL's recommendation) but have little faith they will really have these two titles.
  17. What Jim said.
  18. I'm looking for the first two Classics cds (1921-24 & 1924-26) as well as EPM Jazz Archive "Clarence Williams Vol 3" (1925-26). Any help would be appreciated.
  19. Just saying this was a Cecil date, nomatter the current packaging. This session is famous for the problems in the studio. Cecil was happy with Coltrane's playing but the recording (as a whole) is a bump in the road for Cecil. Once all this is absorbed, it's a fascinating document. Don't dump it - you might grow into it.
  20. Is the TAXDAY6 code still good for another 15%? I ordered 8 cds on Monday for a good deal.
  21. Since this was a Cecil Taylor date, you should look at the participants from his side.
