I'm totally with you Ken... There is a simple elegance to the Mosaic sets... And in this day and age... we could use with a LOT more simple elegance.... :blush2:

I'm new to this series and am trying to get some of the older volumes (2,3, 5-9).... The ONLY places I can find them are amazon (at $30 a pop new) or storyville's website for $40 a pop... :crazy: Anybody got any ideas... Anybody got an extra unopened copy of Vol. 8, they'd be willing to sell??? thanks :o

The problem I'm having with this set.. is the plethora of backup vocals as described in the link I posted earlier.. In general I DON'T think they work. I hated them with the Dinah Washington set.. and have basically dismissed them... If the earlier review is right.. Regrettably I might have to pass this one up.... :angry: Now is someone's who's got the earlier set.. can tell me that these backup vocals constitute less than 10% of the set... then maybe... :unsure: but somehow I doubt it.... :angry:

This really is a great thread... As I mentioned in my other post... Just ordered the Private Collection Vols. 6-10 as a box for $30.00.. :cool: I'm assuming it will be great.. not to mention that it's disappearing....

Ordered my copy @ Amazon for $26,99 along with Ellington the Private Collection Vols. 5-10 for another $29.... Not a bad take, huh???? :blush:

This is one of the few Mosaics I missed and am damn disappointed... :angry: About the only good thing is that I was able to track down a digital version of this and the Nat Cole box....
