That Ogun CDr was purchased back in 2012 (was not advertised as such) & every subsequent disc I've received since then has been a CD
-
I used to order directly from her & agree that she was lovely to deal with - she would sometimes send handwritten notes with my orders unfortunately some of their repressings have been CDrs
-
Just checked the Ogun Bandcamp site & there don't appear to be any new releases there. Are you referring to Dusty Groove (DG)? Have just checked them & I can't see any upcoming releases/reissues for May 1. Can you post a link to those please.

thanks for the tip Cliff, just got my copy out

It looks like the previously unreleased bonus tracks (the Tolliver ones have actually been released on the Mosaic Select - Felser has alluded to this) will only be available as digital downloads & not included on the CD versions either - if you look at the Bandcamp SE site, particularly Stanley Cowell & Charles Tolliver - you can just distinguish the CD tracks on the images & they correspond with the LP version, plus the Tolliver CD release is only 1 disc. https://strata-east.bandcamp.com/music

RIP Jamie His work with King Crimson, particularly "Larks Tongues In Aspic" was highly influential on my music journey/vocabulary in the early 70s Always loved that impish Daliesque image of him with the giant saw

Jazz West Coast - An Anthology with 15 Volumes

I created my own replica series from CD files & LP burns - got a bit tricky with the later issues that were both mono & stereo (there were track variations) -
Actually, those sections were some of the most interesting moments to me. Watched the Sly doco last night - yep, it's up there with Summer of Soul - superb production (musical footage & interviews, old & contemporary). Miles D gets a mention (including footage).
-
hopefully it'll be on par with the recent doco film "The Summer of Soul (....or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised)" - one of the best music docos I've seen
-
RIP Howard - a stalwart of the UK jazz scene - have a large number of his releases going back to his CBS/Turtle years

Yes please, on my list -
new batch of BYG-Actuel CD releases via Solid Japan coming late March (25) - It's the next 10 from the original 52 releases (69-72) Acting Trio, Braxton (B-Xo/N-0-1-4-7a), Cyrille (What About), Joachim Kuhn (Sounds Of Feelings), Shepp (Blase), Coursil (Way Ahead), Burrell (Echo), Moncur (New Africa), Terroade (Love Rejoice), Thornton (Ketchaoua). Many of these have not had official/legit CD releases AFAIK. Some choice stuff in there - wondering how many of these will be released via the recent BYG reissue program - they see to be much more selective plus what is the relationship between the current BYG & Solid releases, if any - nothing on the Hoffman site regarding this. https://diskunion.net/jazz/ct/list/0/0/137098/0/0/0/10/0/2 Thornton's Ketchaoua is also being released next month (Feb) via the official BYG site https://bygrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ketchaoua is it worth modifying the title of this thread to new BYG-Actuel releases or should I commence a new thread?

Trost is rereleasing 2 Howard LPs from the FMP sub label SAJ, Schizophrenic Blues & Berlin Concert, both live '77 & '78 Doesn't look like there's going to be any digital component to the release, only LP (so far?) https://www.trost.at/noah-howard-group-berlin-concert.html https://www.trost.at/noah-howard-quartet-schizophrenic-blues.html

Just seen the news on the Beefheart Appreciation site that Elliot has passed - Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band guitarist extraordinaire Big fan of The Don & Magic Band since the 70s - actually saw them (sans Don of course) at the Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival a few years back RIP Elliot

part of the rear of that CD showing the Dale releases 4 titles with 2 parts each - i presume that would have been the tracks from the 10" version but which of these were on the EP - all part I's? (as you said Mike, you'd need to listen). Is part 2 an alternate take of part 1 as some discographies suggest or are they continuations from part 1?
-
pity they didn't add the Ra Transition acetate tracks covering alts/outtakes etc from the same sessions - they need a proper issue https://musicpriceguide.com/12572/sun-ra-outtakes-1957-acetate-lp-unreleased-transition-unknown-recordings-hear/

I've seen this previously & wonder if those alts are actually the Parts 1 & 2 from the 10" LP ie the alt is part 2 for the LP - just a guess, otherwise the 10" would be a very short (EP size) recording - the 10" LP actually has 7 tracks according to an online sale description Here's another version of this session The Birdland Quintet / Paul Quinichette Quintet Paul Quinichette as Vice Prez, tenor sax; Kenny Drew, piano; Freddie Green, guitar; Gene Ramey, bass; Gus Johnson, drums.
