My copy has all 24 tracks
-
That was my assumption and why I posted the link. I emailed Eastwind yesterday & received a quick response - they will be getting in copies of this & the new Eric Dolphy CD (Muses) ASAP - were released on Nov 25 in Japan Maximum Rare Records has copies listed (Japanese online dealer - been dealing with them for the past 2 years & service is good plus shipping rates are low) http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUD-POWELL-LIVE-BIRDLAND-1957-JAPAN-ISSUE-CD-999-Ltd-Ed-G00-/271332405871?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item3f2cabf26f also the Dolphy http://www.ebay.com/itm/ERIC-DOLPHY-MUSES-JAPAN-ISSUE-CD-999-Ltd-Ed-G00-/370952491518?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item565e7dd1fe these ain't cheap (all prices are 2600-2800 yen or $30 to $33 US on all dealers I've come across) - still think they're worth it, esp the Dolphy with the unreleased track (Muses) & alternates

romualdo replied to Bol's topic in Offering and Looking For...

RIP Nate had been listening to you recently on a Kamau Daaood CD (Leimert Park)

bringing up the Lenox School of Jazz thread again can anyone verify what vinyl was originally released from the 59 date (Aug 29) - an Atlantic test pressing has been mentioned & for sale (see above - unfortunately the link to ebay no longer exists) The Lord discography also mentions a "special LP, not for sale" - I wonder if he is referring to the test pressing? Discogs also mentions a privately pressed LP & a repressed Italian facsimile (does this reuse the original LP cover) - if it was only a test pressing, I can't imagine a properly designed cover was made) http://www.discogs.com/Ornette-59-Lenox-School-Of-Jazz/release/4368556 Were all 11 titles (in circulation on the 2 CDs) released on this mysterious LP (LPs)? So, was there a private pressing with that amazing cover plus a test pressing for Atlantic Michael Fitzgerald's site does not discuss the LP/LPs (AFAIK)

Are there any box bargains currently available?

No, that was genuine - my copy shipped today (was on backorder) & at that price -

Yep, we've got it pretty good here (apart from shipping costs) I've been buying LPs & CDs internationally since the mid 80's & have only been hit with customs duty once (back in 86 & it was the Frank Zappa Old Masters Box 1) I remember being slightly apprehensive when waiting for the Ellington RCA box but nothing eventuated -
Even their colonial cousins weren't spared - anyone remember the Australian table wine sketch I remember at University & parties in the early 70's people reciting verbatim various MP skits (in retrospect, they were probably on the spectrum)

And its available! Gotta get it. Required listening if you're into the "free" stuff. there are excellent live WDR quintet (including Tchicai) recordings that fill the gap (70-74) in his discography - should be officially released
-
What I suspect they'll eventually do is to sell both as a significantly reduced double set (Amazon US is currently offering this but at $105 i.e. the same price as the individual items)

Here's a screen shot from my Lord Discography looks like it's the 6 titles from the Dec 66 session (confirmed by Grooves listing) but no Kuhn material that was on the Avantgarde CD Looks like The 2 titles from Sept 67 (also on the FMP LP) haven't had a CD release
-
that's correct AFAIK
-
Four titles were originally released on FMP LP 0540 "The Early Quintet" & all six titles have subsequently been released on the German Immus CD "Avantgarde" The session was recorded in Dec 66 Just picked up a CD of the earlier CBS (May 66, Frankfurt) recording "Voices" with the same musicians

Another 30 Bethlehem releases from Japan due in mid December http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/search/music/adv_1/barcodecatnum_CDSOL-6/category_1/x_60/y_18/ They're continuing to mine the catalogue with some wonderful surprises (one high on my wish list DICK WETMORE - finally!!) Herbie Mann, Stu Williamson, Don Elliott, Australian All-Stars, Aaron Sachs, Anthony Ortega, Frances Faye, Marty Paich, Frank Rosolino, Porgy & Bess 2CD (Torme & Faye), Jazz At The Metropole Cafe The big one for me is the first CD issue of the Dick Wetmore 10" (containing Bob Zieff compositions)

Not that impressive !! - always have a pang of disappointment when the latest reissue batch is listed This is the second Hatology release of Lorrach (last in 2002 plus a Hat Art version in 1995) i.e. 3CD releases - nice to see Ayler in print but what about previously unreleased (CD) material from other deserving artists eg Jimmy Lyons - "Riffs", "Push Pull", "What To Do About" - these are all great sessions that haven't seen the digital medium AFAIK Also hanging out for "gardens"

Just ordered a copy - great price Also, what's up with Amazon's shipping rates (international) - have they been dropped? - only cost me $6 to ship to Australia (usually 14-15) Same with the 10DVD Ken Burns box which I just bought - on special for $41 (Amazon) & shipping was only $7 to Australia Thought I'd finally go for it (in the face of good & bad reviews), especially at that price - the full series was never shown here & our DVD release set was seriously truncated -
Herbie Hancock Complete Columbia Box

Many thanks grabbed one earlier today (hope it's not some Eastern European facsimile/boot) -
was released on Excelsior 78 159 & has been reissued on Rhino CD 75872 (Central Ave Sounds) no specific date in Lord discog - only 1945 There's also an AFRS Jubilee version from Jan 46 (same lineup as above) - it's on the Hep CD "Groovin High In LA 1946"
-
according to the Lord Discography, 4 titles were released on a Tring International CD (GRF065) - not sure of the title is your LP on the Booman label?
