  1. Is this available on CD at a reasonable price, or should I go the download route? Bertrand.
  2. Well, the recorded Columbia output.
  3. Great news. I announced it at the March 16th presentation and there is much anticipation for this in D.C. If only we could find a way to cancel all references to this 'Butch played with Miles' canard on the internet... Bertrand.
  4. Picked it up today. He nicely thanks me for showing him the Shorter copyrights at LC. Bertrand.
  5. How will we recognize you Bertrand.
  6. ...you see an article in the Washington Post 'Style' section called 'Hot Magma' and you assume it's about Stella Vander. Bertrand.
  7. Here are some I would like to see on CD (don't know if you can get to these labels): 1) Grachan Moncur III - Echoes Of Prayer (JCOA) 2) Grachan Moncur III - Shadows (Denon) 3) Joe Chambers - Piano Solo (title?) (Denon) 4) Joe Chambers/Larry Young: Double Exposure (Muse) Bertrand.
  8. I'll definitely still go if I am in France at that time, but it is steep. Wayne is definitely worth it, at least to me. Bertrand.
  9. I always wondered about that - I always assumed some things are NOT handled by Harry Fox. Are you saying other Ornette compositions are, just not this one? Bertrand.
  10. Tickets prices for the Olympia are ridiculously high. Bertrand.

I'll bet the Tom Lord discography has an entry under both names. Bertrand.
  12. I really wish I could be there but I won't be in NYC this week-end. Bertrand.

It seems he actually spells it 'Nathen Page'. He used to come to DC a lot and I never caught him - my mistake. Bertrand.
  14. You really think it's that guy? Bertrand.
  15. The tune 'Pyramid' from Horace Parlan's On The Spur Of The Moment is credited to someone named Roger Williams. Who is he? What a great tune! Bertrand.
  16. Patrick, Thanks for coming! I was amazed at how many people were there. We're lucky Butch was in the mood to talk. My favorite part was when I asked him about playing with Shepp and Dixon, and he said it's the same as what he usually plays, just the people dance differently. Bertrand.
  17. Sure glad I asked here! I knew nothing about this. 7/18 may be a bit early for me because of this damn work thing - I will investigate. Did you find this on the web somewhere? Bertrand.
  18. Keith is a serious musicologist. I knew he was working on this for a while. I'm sure it is a quality work. Bill Kirchner praised it elsewhere. I will definitely be picking it up - the paperback Bertrand.
  19. I'll send you a PM with my cell phone in case you need to find your way around. That will be awesome if you can make it! Bertrand.
  20. Isn't track 6 called 'Mother Wit'? Bertrand.
  21. Does anyone know of any Wayne Shorter gigs in France in July or August? There's nothing at imnworld.com and my other source of info did not pan out. Thanks, Bertrand.
  22. LC will eventually catalog this, but it could take years. IJS is very limited in staff. I don't know when they'd get around to organizing it. On the plus side, they would probably let a serious researcher look at the material even before it is cataloged. LC will not let anyone touch it until it is 'processed'. I wonder if there is some sort of lead sheet for 'Solar' in this collection, since allegedly he is the real composer. Bertrand.
  23. Does the hardcover have anything the paperback doesn't, other than a hard cover? That's quite a price differential. I heard a rumor he accidentally forgot the Water Babies album. Bummer. Bertrand.
  24. A prime example of what the NRA refers to as 'open carry'. Bertrand.
