  6. What's your experience with previous dealings (promptness of shipping, 100% fulfilling of orders, etc.) with jpc, if any? I am considering placing an order with them for 1 or 2 CDs that for some reason are significantly more expensive on Amazon (even with their marketplace sellers). normaly i have no problems with jpc. but they are not the quickest. keep boppin´ marcel is it fenn music? then it will take a few weeks more.... keep boppin´ marcel

  9. What do you base your assumption on that "99% of the people here own the material in various forms"? I very much doubt the percentage is that high and the set is not made exclusively for "the people here". Besides, I think there's a good chance the sound quality on the upcoming Mosaic set will be relatively good and possibly better than on many post-78 releases. I am very much looking forward to this set. o.k., i withdraw the sentence to the basic:"i think i skip this mosaic issue. 99% of this material i have...no reason to buy it the second or third time." the sound quality may be better than on all other releases but this is for me not so important as to buy it again. this is a good set for someone who will start to collect coleman hawkins and has not so much recordings of him from this period. keep boppin´ marcel
  10. What does he do with the Goodman Sextet and Christian? I couldn't find it here or on Leo Valdes's Christian discography. (Doesn't mean it's not there, just that I couldn't find it.) he plays trumpet.... but charlie christian plays only rhythm guitar. (it´s from a camel caravan (14.10.1939)"ain´t misbeahvin´". keep boppin´ marcel
  11. (i think i don´t understand this topic) keep boppin´ marcel
  12. i think i skip this mosaic issue. 99% of this material i have and i don´t understand the hype of this release, because i think 99% of the people here are ownded the material in various forms. no reason to buy it the second or third time. keep boppin´ marcel

  17. more information about the birdland recordings is found in the book:"the music and life of theodore "fats" navarro, infatuation" by leif bo petersen and theo rehak (scarecrow, 2009). the audience tapes are made by bill hirsch, he was a government contractor and sound engineer who pioneered and specialized in early reel-to-reel tape devices....it is now thought that the boris rose birdland material from the first half of 1950 is the result of hirsch´s experiments with tape recordings on location. his friend rose dubbed them to disc for sale to collectors, finally selling a selection of the parker/navarro items on disc to an enthusiatic bruce lundevall, then at columbia, for commercial issue. (according to the wonderful navarro book, page 311/312. keep boppin´ marcel

  20. Most people have trouble recognizing the drummer-- including Diz! There's an interview with him and Max Roach on a double cd of them playing in Paris (IIRC) during which they're shown that clip and begin musing about who was the left-handed drummer. (I gotta admit I thought it was Max when I first saw it. Didn't notice the drummer was a lefty. ) here it is. keep boppin´ marcel
