  3. just found some more in my records collection: on the "black lion" label: from 1944: 52nd street blues; midnight melody; gang o´notes; just before dawn; between midnight and dawn and apollo boogie. all credited to tatum. but strangely the bruyninckx discography states the tracks "52nd street blues; just before dawn and midnight melody as played by frank paparelli!! from the liner notes by alun morgan: "the first side of the lp is devoted to tatum originals,...tatum, like a number of other great solists including stan getz, put his name to remarkably few compositions,...for this reason alone the first six titles would be of interest but in addition a number of the tunes are based on the twelve-bar blues format..." keep boppin´ marcel
  4. what about "battery bounce" with joe thomas, edmond hall, john collins, billy taylor and eddie dougherty from january 21, 1941? and what about "art´s blues" from "the fabulous dorseys" film soundtrack 1946. both are credited to tatum on my reissued disc. "trio blues" doesen´t count? it´s from january 27, 1956 from the tatum group masterpieces? keep boppin´ marcel
  5. oh, i know that! my wife surprised me everyday with lots of fun stuff to do. (iron; wash up; washing the laundry; give off dust with the vacuum cleaner, etc.) keep boppin´ marcel

  8. welcome (back), jazzjazz! i have 2/3 of your wonderful jazzrealities cds (jutta hipp and hans koller). are there plans for more? keep boppin´ marcel
  9. that would be interesting (with pork pie hat?) keep boppin´ marcel
  10. thanks for the news, brownie. i think they have great liner notes (as always). but for me there is nothing new on it. in 1995 the "masters of jazz" series on "média 7" was complete. but unfortunately this great project and label disappeared after ca. 200 cds of complete cronological recordings of various artists. more or less impossible to find them in these days. keep boppin´ marcel
  11. yes, i´m a joyce fan but i think the sound quality on this records was always not so good. but there are a lot of good big band jazz (one night stand; jubilee; victory of spotlight bands; v-discs) on it that was not avaiable elswhere! keep boppin´ marcel
  12. and here is another radio show (48 minutes long) with more sound snippets and a conversation with Loren Schoenberg and Michael Cogswell: http://www.onpointradio.org/2010/09/new-jazz-gems click on the "listen to this show" at the top of the site. keep boppin´ marcel
  13. also this year: happy birthday, gslade! keep boppin´ marcel
  14. got mine today. sound is o.k. to my ears. for me it´s a little sensation to find and release a total unknown concert recording of a great performer. why they can´t do this with the lester young library of congress jam sessions or the bill savory collection? i was delighted to read in the liner notes that "hep" hopes to release a comprhensive edition of the july 23, 1949 shrine concert of woody herman at some point in the near future. i can only say: every new issue of "hep" is a treasure! very rare in these days!! keep boppin´ marcel
  15. also for this year, all the best to you, sidewinder! keep boppin´ marcel

Larry Rohter and Loren Schoenberg talked about the collection. http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/19/popcast-is-katy-perry-for-real/?scp=4&sq=savory&st=cse b.t.w. on the national jazz museum homepage you can hear more sound snippets! keep boppin´ marcel
  21. or look here. keep boppin´ marcel
  22. i´m totally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for years there were rumours about this collection. (imagine, the randall islans open air concert). was bill savory the husband of helen ward? (i´m not at home to confirm it). there was a few years ago a sell on ebay with a few books from the ward/savory estate and they described that the recording collection was lost. (maybe my recollections are wrong...) this is one of the greatest finds in recent years (and it can be compared with the bird/dizzy town hall concert 1945 or the lester young jam session (still unissued)). put bill savory together with jerry newman, bob andrews, boris rose and timme rosencrantz! they all captured great music for the future. hope this collection will go published!!! keep boppin´ marcel
