  1. I have had these records for 40 years but never listened closely. Probably dismissed them as "jam sessions". Wow - they are fantastic!!
  2. Thanks for the recommendation Larry - looks very interesting.
  3. 👍 Freaking delightful!
  4. Ha ha, you can go over to the Hoffman music forum and literally read tens of thousands of pages devoted to this topic.
  5. Ah yes, the Kansas side of Kansas City
  6. OMG, hands down, my all-time favorite comp. Bought numerous copies for friends over the years.
  7. Nice recap - one of my go-to Shorter albums.
  8. Got 'em, thank-you. I discovered jazz in 1982 or 1983, while in college. In fairly short order, I was at the local library, combing though old issues of Downbeat, looking for ideas on records to buy. Wow - this brings me back!
  9. Have not tried, but yes, thanks Hopkins!
  10. Very cool - thanks for sharing!
  11. Great suggestions guys. Favorite bookstores appreciated too 😀
  12. Greetings, My wife and I will be in Chicago in a couple weeks and want to hit record/books stores. We have not been post-Covid, so curious what still exists and what are your favs. I hit Dusty Groove automatically. Bias towards jazz of course! Thanks
  13. Agreed on all points!
  14. You mean increased frequency due to coffee consumption? Yes
  15. Yeah I find the thread somewhat amusing and somewhat depressing. We have an embarrassment of riches, both digitally and on vinyl.
  16. Very expensive but very sturdy and my experience is similar. They are phenomenal at keeping coffee hot for extended periods.

Agree 100% - would live to catch him live!
  18. Ha - so I have something in common with both you and your wife! Maybe I bumped into you at halftime. 😁 Jazz and KU bball ... I learned to appreciate both in the early 1980s 😊
  19. Tom - please tell me she is rooting for the Jayhawks 😁
  20. Shirley Scott? Nevermind. What a cool cover on that one!
  21. Could that record really be 33 years old? My goodness. Saw them live at a Kansas City jazz festival around that time, enjoyed the show (and this CD). Will have to pull it out and listen.
