  1. The NPR story has a sound clip - sound quality seems pretty decent. Tapes were discovered by a Bob Dylan archivist at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Wish I could copy the link. They have a pic of the album cover which to me looks freaky cool. This is an 80 minute recording. Edit: here we go:
  2. Interesting they also have a Motorhead set for sale. How is that a BMG product???
  3. Cool cover over at Spotify. I wonder how Mosaic missed this?
  4. I wonder whether this is one of these online only releases where the notes are only available via pdf? Answering my own question - no, physical product: https://www.montreuxjazzshop.com/en/boutique/music/vinyls/mccoy-tyner-the-montreux-years-cd/
  5. Well we are in disagreement here, but I apologize for taking us off topic. Enjoy Boston and give us a first-hand report of your experiences at Stereo Jacks!
  6. ??? Smoking weed at 7:00 am is an addiction problem.
  7. Oh that’s a good one!! Dig that album. I’m glad all his Columbia stuff is available on CD!
  8. That may have been my first Monk album ~ 40 years ago, so always had a soft spot for it.
  9. Err ... wow that academic/post-NFL career is pretty impressive!
  10. I just became a Cleveland Browns fan 🥲
  11. Thanks - off the fence 😊
  12. Undoubtedly. There are 1000 page plus threads over at the Hoffman board devoted to such topics ...
  13. Wow some of that stuff has been gutted. Was that the sound of the vinyl bubble bursting? Or just normal supply and demand for certain titles?
  14. That is a freaking delight!! So Much Guitar was one of my first jazz albums, 40+ years ago. Still love it and if I had to only pick one Wes … we’ll thankfully I don’t!
  15. Funny, book just arrived in the mail yesterday. Bought it for my son last Christmas, have been eyeing a copy for myself. Can't wait to spin through it this weekend.
  16. I still have a few of the catalogs - not the very early ones, but from maybe five years on. I loved receiving those things in the mail. Pre-internet, that was how I learned of those things (plus Downbeat ads). The labor of love dimension really shone through.
  17. That was totally cool - thanks for posting.
  18. Nice to listen to Gene Harris while I read this thread! I live in Kansas City and have not seen much national talent here over the years. So my sample size is generally limited to business trips to New York or Chicago. Likely my favorite show was George Coleman with Harold Mabern circa 1991 or so. We sat close to the piano and I remember being awed by the size of Mabern's hands. Great show.
  19. Price alert - Dusty Groove has it for $58 on pre-order 😁
  20. Yet not a CTI/A&M product! GNP Crescendo
  21. And limited edition, hard to find vinyl at that.
  22. I don't have my copy handy, so going from memory. No reviews, no artist feature stories (save for a lightweight piece on Billy Harper). There was a bunch of other stuff that really did not interest me.

    RSD Releases

I saw a number of Ayler boxes in KC yesterday. That is a lot of cash. As mentioned above, I feel some fatigue around paying top dollar for some of this stuff (not a comment on the Ayler per se).
