  1. Love those Milestone two-fers, huge part of my jazz indoctrination, before and after the OJCs. I used to devour the notes as well as the music, which I “burned” on cassettes to listen while driving 😂
  2. Wow - too young!!
  3. Spent extended time with that one a few months ago. So, so good!
  4. Yes, great feature. I have been a Mac guy since 1984 and through some trial and error, have found Apple Music to be a fantastic solution for my digital music listening.
  5. This is fantastic. Under 40 minutes, taut. Antoine Roney (best I have ever heard from him) and James Hurt are sharp.
  6. Have the Horizon lps *ever* been on CD? Discogs says not. Shame, but will add "Waves ..." to to "to spin" list.
  7. He even shows up here from time to time!
  8. Details at Bandcamp, which I found to be very helpful app/site. Both download and physical product: https://michaelweiss.bandcamp.com/album/homage
  9. You gotta wonder why. Mosaic was able to put out the Woody Shaw Muse stuff - was that prior to Concord buying Muse? I don't understand why you sit on product and don't monetize it. So glad I bought these Hardman/Tucker/Cook records way back when, they are delightful.
  10. Ha ha. Saw the title, immediately thought of “The Harder They Come”!
  11. And those Kenny Burrell jam sessions - Blue Lights? on Blue Note. I love his playing along Tina Brooks and Louis Smith.
  12. Or the massive box with both Muse & Steeplechase!
  13. Oh yes, that is a good one! I pulled it out recently thanks to this thread. How about - The Complete Muse Recordings of Junior Cook, Bill Hardman and Mickey Tucker?
  14. I could not agree more. I am amazed at how good it can sound.
  15. I started with Free Lancing on Columbia. I think Rolling Stone recommended it in the early 80s 😀 I tend to like him more as a sideman than leader, but this one hits the spot for me.

Oh hell yeah! Saw him at my one (and only) visit to the Jazz Showcase.
  17. That Select was a great example of Mosaic being Mosaic. Almost none of it on CD. Not as daring as his 60s work, but very pleasant and hits the spot for me.
  18. Ha ha. I had the same reaction (to the first half of your post).
  19. OK, very familiar with the Philadelphia record store, gave it a quick whirl. $31 (including tax, S&H) bought me this. Pretty hard-boppy in retrospect, but hey, that is my go to. Particularly looking forward to the Von Freeman Chicago CD: Robert Mazurek With Eric Alexander - Green & Blue Joshua Breakstone Featuring Tommy Flanagan And Jimmy Knepper - Evening Star Doug Raney Sextet - Meeting The Tenors N.Y. Hardbop Quintet - A Mere Bag Of Shells Joshua Breakstone Trio - No One New The Jodie Christian Trio - Reminiscing Brad Goode, Von Freeman - Inside Chicago Vol. 1. Sir Charles Thompson - Robbins' Nest Jim Rotondi - Dark Blue Christian Winther - Blue Function Ryan Kisor - The Sidewinder Tardo Hammer - Tardo's Tempo
  20. Yes, they do. I have bought a few things from them - rarely a bargain, but very good packaging, communication and fair grading. Interesting record - and yes, that is a huge number, so far!
  21. I am not a very knowledgeable classical music fan, but somehow found this one. Actually it was recommended to me at Best Buy decades ago. I enjoy it very much.
  22. How do you like the notes/photos?
  23. Yes - this is a great thread and by far the sanest place over there to discuss jazz.
  24. Pulled this out for some reason the other day. Wow - cracking band indeed. Chuck - thanks for making this happen. Really a fun/meaty session!
