From what I’ve read, it had two songs from Help but omitted four songs from the UK version, including Nowhere Man. I was going to say that sounds strange but if that’s what you grew up with and it’s now implanted in your ngrams, then it’s normal. Whenever I listen to a Beatles album, I know what song comes next and if I don’t hear the sequence I became accustomed to over the years, it messes me up!

Yes, they had 12 songs on them vs the US 10. Even though the WA is a collection of solo works, as you noted, it does have some notable songs that I like listening to from time to time.

I was living in Barcelona when Rubber Soul was issues so I had the European version. When it comes to Beatles or Stones, I've always preferred the European versions. The American versions were not the "true" ones, imho. Re: the White Album, a Beatles album yes, but also, no, as the group was feuding and they each did their own thing, recording their parts separately in the studio. Not sure if this applied to all but it applied to Lennon and McCartney.

Terrific music.

I read somewhere (I think) that McCovey was more beloved by fans than Mays because he was a San Francisco Giant whereas Willie had been a NY Giant.

Rubber Soul was, in my opinion, a transitional album between Help (and prior albums) and Revolver. There were some songs on there closer to Revolver but some closer to earlier albums. I don’t see how Revolver could be labeled conservative as it was quite different than anything I’d heard before at that time. In comparison to Sgt Pepper, I could see that but that’s looking retrospectively.

I actually thought the 65 Giants were better; Mays was MVP. Unfortunately, the Dodgers prevailed again. The Giants had good to very good teams in the 60s and early 70s but only one pennant and divisional championship to show for it.

One of the greats. RIP.

I really don't understand many of these comments. I came of age in the 60s and the new music was cool, different. Because we lived overseas I wasn't really exposed to the rock that was developing in the 50s, except Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock (my parents had the record) and it was great stuff. I had one of the first Beatle albums in Brasil and that got me hooked. I just liked it but I liked the Stones even more as I found about them. However, by the mid 70s I had lost interest in keeping up with the music and bought very little rock after that unless it was cd reissues of lps I had when I was a teenager. It certain didn't define me in my adult years. If anything, it led me to blues, which eventually led me to jazz.

I think this is one of the best releases from Resonance and that’s saying a lot. To Wane is my favorite so far.

April games can be really cold wherever you are. Years ago I went to opening day at Shea Stadium and I barely lasted five innings. -

It’s a close call in my book. Regardless, both rate among the best teams of all time. 2018 was a special year; they don’t come along often. One article I saw rated the 98 Yankees number 4 among the top 50 of all time. Perhaps the Red Sox are right there as well. -

Conte declined the position so they’re turning to Solari. Conte feared that he wouldn’t be well received by the players. I lay all of this mess at the hands of Perez, the team president. He screwed up the national team on the eve of the World Cup and now he’s screwed RM. -

According to Marca, he will be fired this pm and Solari will be the interim choice. Let’s not forget that Zidane was not well received at the time either. -

Apparently the negotiations have run into complications so they’re now looking at Roberto Martinez and Santiago Solari. -

Congrats Boston and Dan. They were the best from start to finish and neatly flawless on the road. When does spring training start? -
Years ago — the 70s maybe, I can’t remember— I had a lot of his records.

0-6 will do that.
