  1. Does it really matter whether you're listed as a donor or not as the point is to keep this Board going.
  2. What I meant was the songs, not this specific performance.
  3. True. It doesn’t have material we haven’t heard before.
  4. I saw in the Jazz Messengers the above cd, Art Blakey Live Anybody know anything about it? Didn’t see it on Amazon US.
  5. I doubt they would do that, although that’s not based on any facts, just a feeling. If it were me, I’d open it.
  6. I had taped these from TCM. Fascinating movies, filmed and told in a documentary realistic style, from Ermanno Olmi, a lesser known Italian director.
  7. Just sent it. Thanks again Jim.
  8. John Heyman was on today for his weekly spot on WFAN in NY and he believes that the Yanks will sign Happ and Patrick Corbin. He also believes that Machado will wind up on the Yankees and Harper the Phillies.
  9. Jim, are you saying you need some additional contributions?
  10. Well, we have the best starting staff in baseball and a few good young players. Another or two big time bats plus a bullpen would put them in the mix.
  11. Jake is the Man! Cy Young baby
  12. This is a profile that appeared in Sunday's New York Times of Dom Salvador, a Brazilian pianist, who for the last 41 years has played jazz standards at a club under the Brooklyn Bridge, but also helped to create and perform samba jazz and became a player in the samba soul movement. The Lounge Pianist Who Invented Samba Funk
  13. That’s pretty cool. I was there in 63.
  14. Fwiw, I just received this response: “Lee is going to look at this closely Brad needs to refresh his memory as there were many changes made to the final product since the tapes were first located near 2 years ago” The email was in response to my thought that there would have been space on the last disc to fit the song.
  15. There was an article in Jazz Profiles on Billy Bauer, Billy Bauer, Plectrist
  16. Mark, I had sent my question before you made your post and I thought their various responses might be of interest, realizing that ultimately it doesn’t matter since the set is already made. I found their communication is a bit wanting but that’s life.
  17. I asked them about the cd set and was clear that I was referring to the cd set.
  18. That was a complete embarrassment.
  19. There are four different versions also, a deluxe cd version, a regular 3 cd version (the one I ordered), a four LP version (deluxe) and a two LP version.
  20. I received a further response from the label, as follows: “the decisions relating to the final audio involved numerous people & were taken internally & as we understand it were in part if not all - relating to issues of space.”
  21. Are you referring to the version that’s $138 on Amazon. That was a little too expensive for me.
  22. The extreme gushiness for the album exhibited in the reviews I posted of the White Album stands in contrast to Ian MacDonald’s Revolution in the Head. Although he’s not as negative as I thought he was, he felt that the album it hung together well because of the sequencing skills of Lennon, McCartney and George Martin. He also calls it a masterpiece of programming. However, he said that “mere expert presentation, however, cannot hide the fact that half the tracks on it are poor by earlier standards, or that many of its lyrics are little more than the lazy navelgazing of pampered recluses.” Notwithstanding, I’ve ordered the album to see or hear how different the mixes are.
