  1. I love Barry Harris but this auction strikes me as a little nuts.
  2. Thanks Jim.
  3. I just got a new computer, a HP a430n with Windows XP and I have AOL. I was trying to copy a picture from a site to my computer but nothing was happening. I right clicked on the picture and chose the copy feature but when I pasted there was nothing there. The computer comes with Microsoft Office Picture Manager but I'm having no luck. With my old computer, I had Microsoft Photo Editor and this was never a problem. Do I need to get that? Any suggestions?
  4. For any James Clay addicts, you may want to take a look at the following James Clay auction. I'm not the seller.
  5. For me, it's mostly middle 40s to the middle 60s. That is my favorite period of jazz.
  6. Welcome, Moose and I are the ones responsible for balancing out those higher standards that everybody else brings
  7. That looks nice. I need to get away!
  8. I can relate to what vibes is saying. It's a strange feeling, that's true. About a budget, I had cut back but wanted to buy more and although I'd been selling off some excess cds, it wasn't getting me much. So, I've started selling some of my baseball programs and year books to pay for things. I've been collecting these since I was a kid but they don't mean that much to me any more. Plus, how much stuff can you keep that you've accumulated. I didn't know what to expect when I started selling on ebay but I've been pleasantly surprised. Without the money from these sales I wouldn't have been able to place an order with Hiroshi.
  9. On the Buddy DeFranco, do you mean In a Mellow Mood. I can't find Pretty Moods in AMG. Is this one of the cd with Sonny Clark?
  10. I never thought of paying him in dollars. Somehow letting him take the hit seems a little unfair. When I compared xe.com versus paypal, I was taking an $8 hit. Paypal has you coming and going.
  11. In this board, we always talk about Hiroshi's great service and it's true he has great service and his prices are the best. But I think he's outdone himself this time. On Thursday, Hiroshi emailed me that he had sent out an order that he's been putting together for me. I expected to see this around Thursday of this week, although I was hoping for Wednesday. However, I received it today and couldn't believe it. How's that for service. Heck, it takes some packages from New York to get to me in that much time. Hiroshi's service can't be beaten, in my view.
  12. I don't believe the Teddy Wilson is on the endangered list but even if it is I'd go for the Kelly set. The music (and the sound) is just superb. I don't have the Wilson set but I'd read a few comments here that after a while it got a little tedious. On top of that, you also get Frank Strozier in the Kelly set. That's a big plus, in my book.
  13. Or maybe they were taking up their tax(es) but forgot to take up the carpet first
  14. Bill, You may be right in certain respects. Maybe I just don't get them yet. Unfortunately, my resources are limited and while I'd like to check them out, I just can't do it right now. BTW, you overestimate my ability to stop the presses on this thread.
  15. I can honestly say I have a clean record today. Next week will be a different story. I'm expecting a shipment from Hiroshi
  16. Tom, These kinds of threads do not belong in Discography. They really should go in Reissues or Recs. There's been too many of these threads here lately.
  17. He IS the hard bop preeminent pianist of the late 50s early 60s for me. One of my favorites.
  18. I guesss I wasn't clear but why does Angel show up on that technical difficulties pages since Mosaic has nothing to do with them unless they're linked to EMI and their page is down also.
  19. Who is Angel and Manhattan. Isn't Angel a classical records reissuer?
  20. Guilty as charged and I promise if I have the chance I'll do it again I bought 3 cds from Hal. He was very friendly, got 'em real fast and they were all great. I'd been looking for the Richie Kamuca Quartet on Mode for awhile so thank you Hal
  21. Thanks for the tip. I'll check 'em out.
  22. I'm also looking for this cd also. If anyone has one to trade or sell, please send me a pm. Thanks.
  23. I'm looking for a copy of this cd. If anyone has one to sell or trade, please send me a pm. Thanks.
  24. I've obviously been very lucky because I've never experienced the antics that you guys have experienced. I've been stiffed a couple of times but not on big ticket items. Which brings me to my next point. I think ebay is great for things like cds and items that aren't too expensive. If someone stiffs me for $30, I won't be happy (to say the least) but I can get over it. However, I'm not sure someone I don't know or an item I haven't seen when we get into the thousands. I'm just not comfortable with that.
  25. Weizen, what I was trying to say is that someone with 95% I dismiss out of hand. I wouldn't deal with them. If somebody's at 99.5% and above, no risk. However, if it's around 99% and into the 98s%, I get a little leery. Usually, I'll take a closer look at their feedback and if they're generally clean for 6 months, I'll bid on their stuff. While all this may not matter to some people, my resources are not unlimited and I don't want to lose money needlessly.
