I'd imagine the speakers are, yes, either falling apart, or are loose and need to be tightened. At 17, I'd probably spring for new speakers. check www.crutchfield.com to see what will fit and how hard it will be to install.

agreed-People Time is not one of my favorite Getz/Barron recordings but I haven't listened to it in years.

so did mine-sealed which I expected. Listened to disc 1 last night-my spouse did not like the vocal interlude-it's out there for sure. Great music. I remember seeing the orchestra with Frank Wess in the 80s at Blues Alley in DC.

your ears are unique to you so don't buy any speaker until you have had a chance to listen to it on a flat system (no eq) with several of your favorite cds. If you buy the speakers, try and get at least a 30 day exchange/refund so you can really see if they are for you. Most reputable stores offer this as they want you to be happy (and return to buy more gear). Remember, they're your ears, no one elses!

my copy of Detroit finally appeared and I must say it's delightful. Another winner from maestro Wilson!

highly recommend the GD movie soundtrack. Great sound capturing the band at a career pinnacle. The movie itself is worth owning especially for the bonus disc with some tremendous jams in 5.1 sound-turn up the sub and let Phil shake the house!

the road we take back to our condo from town here in Rehoboth Beach is called State Street so naturally "State Street Suite" comes to mind. Another great Wilson release!

Tell me why Roberta Gambrini is so popular? Technically acceptable, but rarely do I hear much emotion-something to grab the listener's attention. While Emergence doesn't have the appeal of Ear Food, it's a solid effort overall.

Haven't heard it so can't comment on sound or music, but one thing that's a necessity for most big band recordings is to capture the bite of the trumpet section. If the engineer misses that, the whole recording can be a bit of a downer. Trumpet dynamics sound ok and it's a good recording, don't get me wrong. Specifically, I was referring to the drum cymbals which don't have that "bite". Maybe it's the monitors used and I know Klipsch give a brighter sound than some speakers.
