  1. Good memories of seeing ‘Eastern Rebellion’ and other Walton groups of later vintage with Billy Higgins too but my favourite appearance was when he was with the late 70s George Coleman Quartet - the one with Herbie Lewis and Hilton Ruiz. Those were the days ! Never saw him when he wasn’t smiling. Used to light up the stage !
  2. I don’t mind the vocals..
  3. What a bizarre reversal from 20-25 years ago, where CDs cost a fortune (over here at least) and vinyl was almost given away, in the end. Now you have beaten up and trashed Blue Note vinyl fetching ludicrous sums and superb CD issues heavily discounted. What a weird world..
  4. The whole music business is going up in smoke..
  5. Chuffed with today’s £5 find. Good as the CD version sounds, this stereo LP from 1969 is way better and in fine nick. Even came with a pristine accompanying Ember booklet covering this release and a Ben Webster that they did.
  6. Really must sort out my old cassette collection. As far as I know, I still have some old BBC Humph broadcasts plus various Charles Fox ‘Jazz Today’ and ‘Jazz In Britain’ from back in the day. No doubt the Beeb have already wiped their masters of those..
  7. I don’t think the duo numbers were broadcast - I remember the Hill solo tracks being broadcast by BBC at the time (and I think Andrew’s site also had them available at one stage).
  8. If it is the QEH performance - I was there. First half was a mesmerising performance of solo Hill. Joined by Archie Shepp in duo post-interval. Great show.
  9. Yes, I can recall some post-10pm saunters into there but never made it to midnight ! The glass window floor gave me the willies after a few pints though..
  10. No probs Jordan. Got the list details from Scott yesterday. Mentioned that they were very appreciative of the support from friends on this board and sends his regards.
  11. It was there yesterday - Must have been taken down by the poster.
  12. Yeah, come to think of it I remember seeing Buell N. posting on that blog too.
  13. Richard Williams?
  14. Sorry to hear this. The Cecil Taylor and Buell Neidlinger Candid Mosaic will be spun today. Thanks for the music and RIP.
  15. Tower, Picadilly Circus in London is still badly missed. All time greatest visit there must have been mid/late 90s when they had all of the Jazz 625 releases on video, the early Miles Davis Columbia CD sets, a whole bay of Japanese imports. I ended up purchasing the Coltrane Atlantic vinyl box that day. Having said that, the Tower US prices worked out quite a bit cheaper ($ for £ effectively). RIP.
  16. I remember seeing him on TV over here many years ago doing ‘Winter In America’ with Gil Scott-Heron. There were two flautists in the band - not sure about the other one. I think my introduction to him was on various Quincy Jones albums such as ‘Smackwater Jack’. He’s also nicely featured on a couple of tracks on the Chick Corea ‘Inner Space’ 2LP set (left off the CD issue I think). That one seemed to come and go pretty quickly, back to obscurity. Glad I got a copy.
  17. No particular thoughts but sounds like a really great night - perfect antidote to the current European freeze-up
