  1. From what I can see so far, it's only in limited markets but are any of you watching Buzzr TV? The current show lineup consists of among others, Let's Make a Deal, Family Feud (Richard Dawson) and my all time favorite Match Game. I wouldn't mind seeing Hollywood Squares but it seems at one time I heard most of the film copies of the show were destroyed. Anyways I find shit like this very entertaining.
  2. Mets are looking real good right now. It's been a lot of fun to watch Daniel Murphy do what he's been doing.
  3. I thought for sure last night was going to be a repeat when Murphy knocked it out but it was not to be. I'm cautiously optimistic of a win tomorrow.
  4. Not tonight but on Saturday the 17th I will be seeing Kenny Barron with George Mraz and Lewis Nash.
  5. I've been in Phoenix since sometime in September and while we have a few days of heavy rain and a few days in the 80s for the most part it's been upper 90s to 100+. I feel your pain and I too am ready for a change in weather. I'm hoping all the talk about an El Nino is true. I've got a lot of business to do this fall and winter in California and we need the rain.
  6. I'm in total agreement. So far this season has started very strong. Other shows.... My wife watches "The Affair", so by default I also watch it. Something about Season 2 has me much more interested than Season 1, so I'm glad. I watched all of Documentary Now! with Bill Hader and Fred Armisen, fucking brilliant, especially episode 3 (Dronez) and episode 4 (The Eyes Don't Lie). Still need to get caught up on Portlandia.

    Dave Pike RIP

    A very talented player. RIP
  8. Damn, I never saw that thread since it's from when I was absent. I had no idea what he's been dealing with and hope he's doing okay.
  9. Very sad. RIP Mr. Woods.
  10. Take it easy. Do you think the U.S. auto industry is writing the jokes for these shows? Yes, we're still making full size SUVs here. Is that all that's being made? No, not even close. Large SUVs are hardly something exclusive to U.S. manufacturers these days. I have wonder though how much of a difference there is in the fuel efficiency of a VW Touareg vs. Chevy Tahoe. Anyways, all jabs at VW and Korean GM brands aside. It looks like VW had to bullshit their way to grab market share and that is what really should make you snicker.
  11. Probably just a shitty group up there in Sacramento? I'm constantly missing monthly magazines and forever have them dropping off other people's mail in the PO box. It's not much better at the home box either. Most of the fuckin' letter carriers in NY don't even wear uniforms anymore. Sleeveless t-shirts, shorts, flip flops coupled with an "eat shit and die" attitude. Dip shit letter carrier in AZ insists on walking through my fucking lawn on the day's he decides to stop by.
  12. Hell of a career and as SS1 said, a true legend. RIP
  13. I've not watched the show for a while but I remember tuning in one day to see that Corey and even Chumlee had lost a substantial amount of weight and I noticed Corey has super white teeth that appear to be slightly on the large side. Veneers or implants at the very least. Maybe Chumlee does too.
  14. I've pretty much given up on Pawn Stars. Maybe it's the kid's new bright white chompers or it's just the history lessons started to bore me.
  15. I really feel for you and the rest of the family Dan. I'm going through a similar experience with my almost 17 year old Chihuahua. She's lost her vision, has severe arthritis, a heart murmur and the end is upon us. Can't remember what is was like without her even though the time went too quickly. I admire your courage in which you've come to grips with ending the suffering. Be strong Dan. Getting the companion should help.
  16. I see the Brachs brand now says "made with real honey". Have you tried it?
  17. http://time.com/4036211/sabmiller-ab-inbev-beer-merger/ It's amazing how many brands/labels these two companies control.
  18. Joe Castro
  19. I find this entertaining, especially doing the first 18 years. So here are mine are the way to through high school. 96 Tears - ? & The Mysterians (*****) To Sir With Love - Lulu (***) Hey Jude - The Beatles (*****) By far not my favorite Beatles tune, but still worthy of five stars. I Can't Get Next To You - The Temptations (*****) I'll Be There - Jackson 5 (***) Maggie May - Rod Stewart (****) My Ding-a-Ling - Chuck Berry (**) Hard to believe this one made it to number 1 but I guess novelty songs were popular at the time. Midnight Train - Gladys Knight & The Pips (*****) Then Came You - Dionne Warwick and The Spinners (****) Bad Blood - Neil Sedaka (****) A roller rink standard! Not a great song but Elton helped it and I have fond memories of the time. If You Leave Me Now - Chicago (***) You Light Up My Life - Debby Boone (_) Damn, I still hate this song. One of my sisters used to play this over and over again as did her friends. Hot Child in the City - Nick Gilder (**) Things seem to fall apart right about now. Rise - Herb Alpert (**) Woman in Love - Barbara Streisand (*) The lady can sing, so it gets 1 star, but the song sucks. Arthur's Theme - Christopher Cross (**) It's sappy but as already pointed out, it's not totally bad. Jack & Diane - John Cougar (_) MTV annoying! Islands in the Stream - Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton (_) Was popular with the Freshman girls, so maybe I should have liked it? I Just Called to Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder (*) Bad Stevie, bad Stevie. Saving All My Love - Whitney Houston (*) 1 star for the voice but this was not her best song.
  20. Closing in on 95 are Abe Vigoda (94), Carl Reiner (93) and Doris Day at 93.
