  1. I don't have to think about how self-indulgent I am, I know that I can and will be very self-indulgent. Perhaps Chuck is hinting at that, well I already had that message. Perhaps this tread is a sign or part of that, perhaps not. I'm thinking this morning about how grief is a long and slow process with no finite end. And how part of me wants to cling to the remaining steps of the process, doesn't want to be fully through. That's why I have several rooms full of things that I find it hard to clear and clean out. I know I must. But I postpone and prolong. Which all makes me think of the fragility of our existence, and how every minute can be precious. Which makes me want to invest in every hour, to have the environment that I want with the most important person and persons. That poses a difficulty for me as the most important persons are in two camps, 1400 miles apart. And I'm in a separate camp, not set up as I'd like it. Thinking and fretting over silly things are taking the place of more important things in my life, little privacy and security issues: I'm not sleeping as well because my bedroom door has to be closed, I'm not seeing someone as much as I'd like to because of privacy issues, I'm not looking for a job because I'm afraid I may have to spend months out of town in the near future. I've been thinking about how I let myself be trapped in between decisions and actions and how silly it is. I've just been thinking about how I come up against that wall and how to break through it. If this follows my usual course, I'll find a way soon, I'm in the process, I think. I think. Okay, thanks for letting me indulge in that.
  2. I'm thinking it's hard to be far away from the ones you love. What's in your noggin?
  3. Cheers V, all the best, keep fighting and recovering and enjoying all you can.
  4. Many many more happy happy returns!
  5. Thanks. Amazon.fr has them listed at a good price.
  6. Hope you had fun at the Record Convention. Decided not to go this time as the last ones have been pretty unimpressive for me. Bought a few dvds, and some bootleg cdrs, that's about it.
  7. I really like this one. Quite a nice recording as well as being performances I can listen to over and over.
  8. I would have shared that feeling years ago, but over the last few years I've collected these MJQ recordings and learned to appreciate them in ways I haven't before. My biggest hold up was Kay's drumming, I didn't "get" that for a long time, but I finally found a way to get into it. I'm getting the set and am going to sell the individual releases. Looking forward to having it all under one roof so to speak.
  9. Watched "The Razor" episode of Battlestar Galactica, and have started watching Lost, Season Six. I love how Blu-Rays look on my system these days. Just an amazing visual experience. Better than the theater.
  10. 88 more fine-tuned returns!
  11. Just be careful with it! That's hard to find these days! Right now, I'm in the third of the trilogy, because I can't stop reading these fascinating (to anyone interested in the Amarna period) long novels.
  12. Last night we had a gathering of four and watched the last two Fringes and the Dana Carvey hosted SNL.

    Headphones

My two cents: the Grado extension cable will probably sound better than some other choices. There may be a longer cord that is just about as good from one of the 'specialty' brands. I'd do a bit of research and see if you can find a place where you can get one 'for home testing.' This place lists lots of headphone accessories: http://www.thecableco.com/prodListing.php?cat=38
  14. Maybe a few bootlegs were released on cdr then. . . . The easiest way to tell cdr from cd is "tint." Most common these days is a light green tint. There are also blue, purple, black. . . Some are hardly tinted at all though, that's become quite common on purchased cdrs. Plus they just look different, they don't look as if they're uniformly a plated finish, They often to me seem to look as if they're covered with a host of concentric circles barely visible.
  15. Mine as well. Listening to the bonus disk now.
  16. Very nice! I haven't been playing much at all, because I have a roommate now and I'm very self-conscious, can't relax into playing when someone is around. I obviously don't play for others, but myself. I'll get back into playing all my instruments when I have the house to myself again at the end of the summer. When I have been playing guitar it's been my '59 Jazzmaster Thin Skin Reissue, a beautiful guitar that Shawn helped me make more playable recently, or my Martin 00-15.
  17. I recommend the Joe Lee Wilson, one of his best. I really dig the Monty Waters! I need to pick up some more of these, the Sullivan, Smith and Bonner for sure. Perhaps also the Dickerson which I hear is very good.
  18. It's funny Allen, but I replaced the Stash for the Storyville because to me it sounded LESS NR'd and much more lively and full. Ah well.
  19. Many many happy happy returns!
  20. Many many happy happy returns!
  21. The Daniel Gould Compendium of Dime Downloads.
  22. Yes, I can't wait to watch last night's Fringe . . . maybe laster today. Started watching Season 1 of "Grounded for Life." Actually looking at a bit of it on the web, the comic is probably considerably worse.
  23. I would say so, but then I hear a lot of Prez in Sonny Rollins too... And plenty of Newk in Mobley.
  24. I've been dealing with Michael since he started and he's great to deal with. This next one should be quite interesting.
