Just ordered the Allmans "The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings [6 CD]" from Amazon. Been waiting for the price to come down and today it was $53, so I decided it was time to bite the bullet.

Don't know if these guys have been discussed before, but I'm really liking their most recent album. I would say they're very much in the same style as P. Tree and Opeth.

Just like the Beatles, only 2 left. They were a big part of my college experience. Loved all those early albums!

oh, WOW! I didn't realize that they were disappearing! It was a nice idea, but I guess the concept didn't work out for some reason. I should probably pick up the Sam Rivers while it's still available.

I see it's available used from Amazon for $16.99 in very good condition. I own this collection and it's quite good. One of the nice things about it is that it's a collection of both leader AND 'sideman' dates.

This is a GREAT 4CD box collection, if you can find it.

I got it from Amazon back in April for about $32. It was too good of a deal to pass up at the time. Glad I did (obviously).

I like him in the Cookers, but he's a role player - as is everyone in the group. To get the full "Billy Harper experience" it's definitely best to see him with his own group.

I've seen Billy a bunch of times - always great! My guess is that he doesn't tour with this own group because it's more profitable and easier with the Cookers. I've always enjoyed his own group, though, which also gives him a chance to stretch out a lot more.

Just ordered Threadgill. It's going to be imposing, but should be very entertaining.

Is there any reason to get satellite other than for use in the car? I know that most of those specific shows aren't available, but there's no shortage of free internet-based radio. I don't drive enough to make it worth installing in my car.

Exactly. Also Dave liked him, so he made a good foil during the show. I don't have a problem with Shaffer - he is a good leader (also runs the house band at the annual R&R HoF) and well-suited for a talk show band.

You can see the air pollution! I don't think it's pollution. I took this out of the airline window, which accounts for the cloudiness. The weather was great, actually.

MD4-218 This CD set has only been played a few times. It's in pristine condition and has been in a smoke-free environment. There's nothing wrong with it, but I realized that this music is just not for me.
