  1. I have tix for Charles 4/25 at SFJAZZ - same quartet. He was opening act for the first jazz concert I ever saw, in the early 70s. The headliner was Freddie Hubbard's quintet.
  2. FYI - eMusic has Oscar's "Exclusively for My Friends" live 3-disc set for $6.99. 37 tracks and nearly 4 hours of music! A great deal if you're OK with MP3s.
  3. NOJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAP-PEEEEEE B-DAYYYYYYYYYYYY
  4. are there any new ones? I keep seeing the same ones broadcast over and over and over again.
  5. Ordered.
  6. OK then.........not OOP, I guess.
  7. Haven't these sets been OOP for a while? I'm strongly thinking about the Joe Pass, too.
  8. Wow - I would LOVE to see that! A dream line-up!
  9. I need to get Henry's Mosaic box now that it's back in print.
  10. Not my cup of tea. Haven't heard her enough to make an honest appraisal, but she seems like a "flavor of the month" jazz singer...........but I could be wrong.
  11. Picked up a last-minute ticket for Kurt Elling at SFJAZZ on Sunday. I liked his first few albums, but got tired of him and really haven't paid much attention since. It's billed as "The Music of Frank Sinatra" and I've never seen him live, so I figured it should be entertaining at the very least.
  12. What about un-installing Chrome altogether, and then re-installing it? Does Firefox or IE have the same problem? If so, it might have something to do with your computer's display - not Chrome.
  13. Have you tried going to "Settings" and clicking on the "Reset Settings" button? Maybe there's something here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95290?hl=en
  14. I think "RUINS" is a little harsh ... but you're entitled to your opinion. I've seen Cables quite a bit - both with Dexter and more recently with The Cookers. He always seems very accomplished and professional. Maybe not the most innovative player on the planet, but he never "ruins" a performance, either.
  15. In case you missed this info in the "Threadgill and Air" thread, the big Mosaic box is finally back in print. I also emailed them and they confirmed.
  16. That's all? I'm thinking 98-99% is more in my range. God, how awful are the Grammy's anymore? Not much worse than they've EVER been! Remember way back when Jethro Tull was nominated in the "Heavy Metal" category?
  17. Thanks for the update on that set - good news. It's quite an investment, but worth it I'm sure.
  18. Interesting about the pickups - they currently install Seymour Duncans, but told me that they have "... been working with a local pickup company named Throbak to custom wind for us. We think they sound extremely good." Don't know anything about them, but they also make effects pedals. Thanks for your input, Lon.
  19. Needless to say, I'm looking at that guitar more for aesthetic reasons than musical. From reading their blurb and seeing the list of components, it seems like quality work. But without being able to play it or see one in person it becomes an expensive crap shoot. Interesting, anyway ...
  20. I am SO tempted to get one of these. I have one of those Eames chairs that my parents bought way back in the 60s, and it would look great alongside it. Just wish I knew how it plays/sounds. SINUOUS GUITARS
  21. Bobby Hutcherson Select - disk 1
  22. I have so many from those two decades so it only makes sense to get some stuff from the 70's. I don't have EVERY good release from those decades but I have enough at the moment. There are LOTS of good 70s albums, they're just not on BN.
  23. So, what is it about 70s BNs that you are interested in? Their best years were the 50s-60s.
