  1. Don't remember, but it's a great tune. I only have this on vinyl, and my LPs are packed away in boxes these days.
  2. Yes............you do!
  3. How does he compare with Edgar Buchanan? McCoy has a stronger right hand.
  4. Saw McCoy tonight. He's still got it. Moving a little slowly these days, but has a nice group with Chris Potter holding down the tenor seat. Closed the set with a rousing version of Walk Spirit, which I did not expect to hear.
  5. What about Bob Seger's horn player: Alto Reed?
  6. Fair enough, but I think this is some of Jimi's strongest live recordings. Everything seems to be clicking for the band. So I'm happy to have as much as we have.
  7. Hey..........I liked Joe Morgan with Jon!
  8. This IS an awesome set.
  9. Sunday: McCoy Tyner piano José James vocals Chris Potter tenor saxophone Gerald Cannon bass Joe Farnsworth drums
  10. Haven't missed it........it's 10/19 - hasn't happened yet!
  11. yes, he's using oxygen all the time now. he's still got his chops though. aside from his health problems, he was dealt a very heavy blow recently with the passing of Eddie Marshall. Dumb question of the day: who is/was Eddie Marshall? Eddie was a staple of Bay Area jazz for decades and, with James Leary, the virtual house band at Keystone Korner.
  12. New bio of the Keystone Korner coming out soon.

  14. It's repetitive, but fun to watch as a genre/period piece.
  15. This was Bobby at the May 17 SF Jazz Center groundbreaking. He seemed OK, but was using oxygen. Nice to see him, for sure.
  16. Sad day indeed. Sorry I never saw him perform.
  17. Another HUGE thumbs up [ :tup ] for the Tolliver set. This stuff is SO good! I was a little underwhelmed by Onzy, actually. I gave it a few listens expecting to have that Gerald Wilson-like energy, and it just didn't hold up for me throughout. There were some nice moments, but ultimately I ended up trading it.
  18. Just back from Wayne. Great show - 3 pieces: first was an hour, second was about 20 minutes, encore was 10. The communication in this band is amazing and of course they're all masters of their instruments. Very enthusiastic crowd - you could tell that the band was feeding off them. (except for one a-hole, who periodically yelled for WR tunes. don't know why he wasn't bounced)
  19. The Jayhawks were pretty good. I realize that I don't love all of their tunes, but the ones I like.........I liked last night. Louris is an interesting electric guitar player for this style of music. Lots of distortion and he plays a Gibson SG, which I wouldn't usually associate with country-flavored rock. Tomorrow night: Wayne Shorter
  20. Going to see the newly reconstituted Jayhawks tonight. I expect a quality show.
  21. Thanks! Just grabbed the new $5.99 Wilco for $3.99.
  22. I'm still waiting for someone to discover the long-lost Miles/Jimi jams that no one knows about.
  23. Watched the Germany video tonight. Very nice to have this stuff.
  24. This is funny.
