    • I've been using the speakers in my stereo system -- Pinnacle PN8's -- since my wife & I got married in 1992. I like the sound of them very much, and I got a great deal on them all those years ago. But my LOVELY wife, knowing how much I enjoy listening to music, recently suggested that I upgrade them. She didn't have to twist my arm.    So I dove into the internet, reading as much as I could online. More importantly, I spent a bunch of time listening to different speakers -- both at a friend's place and at a local shop. I heard models by Magnepan, Vandersteen, Wharfedale, KEF, Dynaudio, and Paradigm. The whole "research"/comparison process was good fun, an excellent excuse to hang out with some cool people and listen closely to music. This last weekend, I pulled the trigger and ordered a set of Paradigm Founder 100F speakers: They should arrive in a week or so. To say that I'm stoked is an understatement.   I can't wait to hear them.
    • While Shirley Scott is primarily known  as leader for her organ work, I am a fan of her two piano trio albums on Candid.
    • Understandable and I agree ... I found an original 10" copy of "This Modern World" some 40 years ago (i.e. in my rather younger days ) at a fleamarket, and a couple years ago I scored (at a giveaway price) an original of the somewhat later 12" release that combines "City of Glass" and "This Modern World". But its cover continues the "This Modern World" theme. The thumbnails on the "Nine Classic Albums V.2" CD set on Real Gone Jazz also uses a more recent cover on its photo. So unless I come across a dirt cheap copy of the 10" City of Glass with the original cover the above will (have to) do. Anything else would be overkill.
    • I have been reading from Jazzbo the harsh winter weather he has been having. Here in Southern Arizona winter seems to have passed us by so far. We usually have had a couple of days below freezing by now, but we have had none where I live. Though chilly in the early mornings, the temperatures in the afternoon have regularly been in the mid to high 70's.
