yes please!! love his work Picked up both of those late 90's releases at the time when we had shops here in Brisbane that had a good jazz repertoire His recent Lithuanian "No Business" releases "Solo In Vilnius" (2CD) & "The Complete Short Stories 1998-2010" (6CD) are highly recommended IMHO

On The Sunny Side Of The Street. Same as Back at the Chicken Shack RVG? many thanks looks like I'll give this a miss as I have the "Back At The Chicken Shack" RVG plus the recent "awful cover" LT series "On The Sunny Side" - don't need it a third time
-
Does anyone know what the extra title on Jimmy Smith's "Midnight Special +1" is The RVG of this didn't contain extra material - I know the titles were from two sessions that also yielded the LP "Back At The Chicken Shack"

At last ! Great that Vocalion will be doing the CD issue, if that is the case. They did wonders with 'Movement/High Spirits'. Here's hoping - if the original LP release was mono only, Vocalion will probably do a first time stereo release as they have with a few of their reissues, including Movement/High Spirits

I'm interested in the Sergey Kuryokhin live USA 7CD set & the Nabatov Herbie Nichols tribute

Giant is finally up on Import CDs though not in stock at present

Thought I'd revive this 10 year old thread Been listening to the Vocalion CD twofer "Harold McNair" & "Flute & Nut" - didn't realise he was a contemporary of Joe Harriott (both attended the Alpha Boys school/home) It's a pity Island hasn't made much of an effort on their jazz back catalogue i.e. SME's Karyobin (has been on Chronoscope but now OOP), Basil Kirchin's Worlds Within Worlds and of course the above McNair session with Ornette's sidemen Has anyone heard this? This 2006 popsike auction netted £351 (pic of LP included here) ps - just found another copy that sold for £670 in 2009!! http://www.popsike.com/Harold-McNair-Affectionate-Fink-RARE-UK-JAZZ-LP-ISLAND/380174959975.html

You can (in Australia) - the problem is that portable oxygen cylinders are small & don't last long One of my sons was a 25 weeker premmie & was on oxygen, at home, for 6 months after spending 5 months in neonatal intensive care post partum I used to take him on public transport without any issues, but that was back in 1992 Maybe with new terrorism issues since 9/11, an oxygen cylinder could be considered a weapon (not the case here AFAIK)

Just had a listen to the powerman 5000 track sounds like they are coming from a similar vibe as Dave Graney!! (amazing songwriter & totally cool dude) One listen & Dave came immediatly to mind http://www.thedavegraneyshow.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Graney He's one of Australia's lesser known gems - been around (with his partner Claire Moore) since the late 70's - contemporaries of the Bad Seeds, Go-Betweens etc Various Bands he has led: Moodists, White Buffaloes, Coral Snakes, Dave Graney Show, Lurid Yellow Mist, The Mistly He's mixes a combination of folk/rock/jazz/lounge-core - Claire plays drums/vibes/xyl I usually get to see him once a year during one of his Australian tours - he's been on the road for over 35 years now You should be able to find a lot of his clips on YouTube - one of my favourite titles is "I've Got Dimensions" - below is a YouTube link of a live version in 2005 ps. That Serge Gainsbourg clip with the dancer is an absolute scream

Still no mention of "The Giant…" on Import CDs though it's available through Amazon US & UK, Dusty Groove (currently OOS), Downtown Music Gallery & even Ebay I've bought all of Jonathan's previous releases through them & the CDs have all been advertised weeks before release date - wonder what's happening here DMG lists it as a limited edition of 1000 copies!! - more hype or is that the case Jonathan?
-
One of my favourite M's !! That was my second Mosaic (after the Mingus Candid) back in 1993 - can't believe that's over 20 years ago now I managed to get Steve Lacy to autograph the booklet (smack bang in the middle of Denis Charles bass drum ) when he played here in Brisbane sometime in the late 90's
-
Just got the email too - looking forward to that NYA4 set I got that e-mail too - BUT I can't find the CDs on their website. E-mailed - waiting for reply. This is often the case with their new releases listed on the catalogue/brochure - they may not be on their online database for a few days to a week or so
-
Many thanks - just ordered a set - had this on my wants list !!
-
Just got the email too - looking forward to that NYA4 set

Wow, this is going to be a hard call - I've got all of this material except for Garner Bird Savoy/Dial Atlantic set & the UK Spotlite CDs
-
The Mosaic set has 21 tracks (from 5 live sets) Sing Song Room, Confucius Restaurant, NYC The Gambit CD contains the 18 tracks that were released on the Double LP "The Lennie Tristano Quartet" (Atl 7006 - 13 titles) & the single LP "Tristano" (Atl 1224 - 5 titles) - excludes the three titles released on the Mosaic set (further 20mins of music )

Upcoming Eddie Condon from MOSAIC
romualdo replied to Peter Donolo's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
That would be a "Killer" Mosaic set IMHO - would they attempt something like this? - does their mission statement include "C20 classical" original LP covers by David Stone Martin -
FS: 5 Discs from The Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions Mosaic
romualdo replied to Justin V's topic in Offering and Looking For...
They probably still do - I picked up a copy from Mosaic earlier this year -

here's a decent discography of the Dial label (including the non US artists - Blue Star etc) http://www.jazzdisco.org/dial-records/discography-1943-1951/ -
Tristano's label was "Jazz Records" - don't think this has been previously released on this label (live Birdland 49, Toronto 52 & Half Note 58)
-
This is great!! more unreleased Warne - this session is not listed in his online discography http://www.warnemarsh.info/discography_2.htm how frequently did Willie play with Lennie, Lee & Warne?

just heard the news RIP Kenny

Looks new & promising - I check the site occasionally & this is the first glimmer of hope!!
